The dhampir in the high castle.

<span class="bold">BloodRayne Betrayal</span>, a frantic side-scroller of supernatural slaughter, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount when purchased alone or 75% alongside the rest of the saga.

Eventually, death comes for us all. But if your last image is that of an unnaturally sexy redhead clad in tight leathers, then you should probably consider yourself lucky. Also, a vampire. For the undead are the prey of choice for Rayne, the alluring dhampir (vampire/human offspring) with a flair for stylized death-dealing and superhuman acrobatics.

This time, Rayne's relentless hunt for blood-suckers has brought her to a remote castle teeming with misshapen horrors of the night. A great culling is about to begin, and our leading lady can't wait to put her trusty arm blades and deadly high heels into action — as she hacks, slashes, and blasts her way through the perilous hallways. BloodRayne has always been about gunning or cutting down hordes of monsters, and <span class="bold">Betrayal</span>'s sleek anime art and challenging platforming bring Rayne's blood-frenzy to life in spectacular fashion.

Rain death upon the ugly undead in BloodRayne Betrayal, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50/75% discounts will last until January 28, 1:59 PM GMT.

Roin: Not compatible with Windows 10... so screw it, seriously screw it -_-

jalister: I'm right there with you. Screw Windows 10.
Well I was talking about the lack of compatibility, but yeah Windows 10 hasn't proven to be the best Windows release :/
However one can't help it, my machine has Win 10 :/

Grargar: I doubt that Majesco have the money to develop a third part. Even if they did, the original developers (Terminal Reality) shut down 2 years ago.
avatar
snowkatt: i am aware of both those facts
doesnt mean somebody cant buy the bloodrayne IP and actually make the third game

personally i think that if the bloodrayne IP goes for sale deep silver will be the one to snap it up
I wouldnt mind them buying the franchise, but to be honest Id love to see Platinum games picking up the series.
Them or the Devil May Cry 3/4 devs.

I get the idea that somebody else would buy the franchise only if Majesco would shut down. I doubt they will be willing to give it up. Even then, I don't expect a third game, but a reboot/reimagining/rewhatever.

JudasIscariot: It uses DirectX 9 and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 runtime :)

op2016: And Bloodrayne 2 doesn't work under Windows 8/8.1, but it does work under Windows 10?

How or why?
Bloodrayne 2 works on Windows 8.1 AND 10.
As a user of both Windows versions, I can safely tell you that. Though if there is a future point in the game where it results in an issue that might come from the Windows version itself, that I don't know, but basically running the game and seeing the main menu is a given on both Windows.

id be fine with a reboot or whatever
bloodrayne 2 is 12 years old and betrayal isnt exactly a sequel might as wel reboot the whole thing
it worked wonders for tomb raider
I have to somewhat echo what amok was getting at: it can be frustrating to see *good*, lesser-known games rejected while stuff like this (evidently mediocre) gets through. Let's see some of those previously-rejected *good* schmups and other previously-rejected *good* titles here, GOG. :) Barry and co. have plenty of possibilities; I assume most of these are *good*. ;-)

amok: Well.... it is good to see how gOg's curated quality controller works. This game is as meh as it is possible to become.
avatar
PookaMustard: If the game isn't that quality to begin with, which I don't know, then the game is probably released here because its a missing addition to the Bloodrayne series, is what I think.
It probably also came as part of a package deal with WayForward.

Zoidberg: The heck is this shit...
Here comes Zoidberg, aka "gimme my low rated on DAY 1" dude ;D

Det_Bullock: Actually the sidescroller looks more interesting than the old 3D games, which I didn't find perticularly interesting at the time, I was circling around it on Steam but never bought, I'm glad to see it here.
It may look interesting, but if you look up "bland" in the Oxford dictionary, you will find a picture of this game...

Again though, what I think of why this game got here if its touted as mediocre while the other games were rejected, is mainly because Bloodrayne Betrayal is a missing part of the Bloodrayne series that GOG sells. So if anything, it got here only to fill in the series, and I hope they do that with the other games too. But that's my own theory.

I see where this might be going.
Finally, something interesting.

Despite the first two games in the series being pretty crappy, this is a very well-done (albeit difficult) action platformer. The soundtrack's done by Jake Kaufman, and is similarly excellent.

And I have to echo both tfishell & amok's sentiments.

As someone who's already tried this game first hand I share the opinion that it is indeed mediocre, with bad controls and cheap, unrewarding gameplay.

Probably, but replace WayForward with Majesco, as the former is only the developer. It's most likely a deal to get A Boy and his Blob here as well.
I'll agree with others, it's probably here because of some sort of package deal. I'm also not sure how some people think curated = good.
