The dhampir in the high castle.

<span class="bold">BloodRayne Betrayal</span>, a frantic side-scroller of supernatural slaughter, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount when purchased alone or 75% alongside the rest of the saga.

Eventually, death comes for us all. But if your last image is that of an unnaturally sexy redhead clad in tight leathers, then you should probably consider yourself lucky. Also, a vampire. For the undead are the prey of choice for Rayne, the alluring dhampir (vampire/human offspring) with a flair for stylized death-dealing and superhuman acrobatics.

This time, Rayne's relentless hunt for blood-suckers has brought her to a remote castle teeming with misshapen horrors of the night. A great culling is about to begin, and our leading lady can't wait to put her trusty arm blades and deadly high heels into action — as she hacks, slashes, and blasts her way through the perilous hallways. BloodRayne has always been about gunning or cutting down hordes of monsters, and <span class="bold">Betrayal</span>'s sleek anime art and challenging platforming bring Rayne's blood-frenzy to life in spectacular fashion.

Rain death upon the ugly undead in BloodRayne Betrayal, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50/75% discounts will last until January 28, 1:59 PM GMT.
I love platformers. Still I got a huge backlog to finish. :(
Super ;))

Geralt_of_Rivia: Galaxy consists of more than just the user interface (aka the Galaxy client). It will use the Galaxy services in the background and tell everyone on the GOG forums that you are playing the game, register your achievements, etc. unless you stop it from doing so with a firewall. But if you do so the game will crash. What it should do is run without Galaxy.
Yet, it runs if you never had Galaxy installed, uninstall an update version of Galaxy or unplug/disable your NIC. The game crashing is a bug, likely in the Galaxy.dll file (also beta). The problem isn't being online. It's that it does not like your firewall and yes it needs to actually fail gracefully. I would like to see this fixed sooner rather than later.

BrokenBull: [...] Personally I don't have any trouble with the controls, but sometimes I do the back-flip when I don't mean to. I wish it was assigned to an individual button. [...]
There is a dedicated backflip button, at least on keyboard; I mapped it to the C key, can't remember what was the default one. You still have to press a direction and then the backflip button, but at least it's easier than going one way, switching directions quickly and pressing jump at that time.

I often found myself doing backflips unintentionally, too; it would be great if they allowed us to turn "manual backflips" off and just use the assigned button/key. I do guess some hardcore action platformer fan out there likes to do the backflips manually, though, so they should keep that in, just make it optional. Not that it messed my experience with the game, I liked it a lot, it's just a mild inconvience, not enough to be annoying, even.

Assuming you're using the backflip button/key, and not doing it manually (change position while moving and jumping), it's fairly easy to pull off: Rayne will always do the backflip in the direction opposite the one she's facing so, if you want to jump right, push left and the backflip mapped key and you'll do it. I think this is probably the control mechanic people had more trouble with, but, personally, I didn't find it to be all that hard, as soon as you understand the basics.

Like I said before, I fail to understand what's so bad about the controls in the game... yes, it's a hard game, I finished it with 13 F ranks and two C ones throughout the whole 15 levels, which is admittedly lame, but I was just trying to beat it -- and scared of not being able to do it, with all the people saying the controls are awfully bad, especially if you play on keyboard (which I do) --, but the controls aren't actually *that* bad, they just need some getting used to.

In all honesty my backlog isn't as huge as others I suppose. I own 157 games now and completed 49.
There are 33 that I have no interest in playing. Then 11 are in progress.
Also I got 12 games on the list that are 'next I want to play' and 10 games are 'on hold'. The rest (42) is: Someday. :D

rgnrk: It improved slightly?
I was thinking more along the lines of "It became low-budget shovelware that looks like it was made in Flash".

Holy shit! That's a lot of games. At least you have enough for the rest of your life :)
My GOG library is growing. So far I have 90 games. I have about 25 on HumbleBundle. Humble has a winter sale now. I bought a bunch of games that I want that aren't on GOG. Their purchase limit is annoying too. I wanted to buy 2 more, but my order was canceled.

Quite the collector!

I got 3 games on steam. :)
I've been playing this a little bit. I bought it since I already had the two previous games. I think it's a decent game (not that I'm a good judge being fairly easy to please... well, most of the time). Controls seem to be just fine using a (wired) 360 controller and seem responsive.

Damn good game if you factor in the steep discount imo. As others alluded to, check out TotalBiscuits review.
