i_hope_you_rot: Already own the original . Why should i buy it again ?

Zoidberg: I'm wondering that too, the post is just a "buy it yea yea yea!" with absolutely no information on what's so great about the remaster.
count me in with you two, though at 4.99 I might grab it anyway.

Also, the screen shots look identical to the original though I've seen a few posts in here talking about HD. I'm a little confused.

AHF1349: You need to enable "Full 3D Aim Look" to get an undistorted view while looking up and down. So far this looks OK for a remaster but audio and music volume controls seem not to work. And I would like to see a strafe toggle key added so that I can play it like in 1997.
avatar
smrtgi19: where do i enable it?
Options --> Gameplay Setup

Music seems to play only the midi version although there are ogg files of the CD tracks in the installation directory.

MarkoH01: I already posted the answer to this question as have several others. Just bought it and I can confirm:

1) Mouselook works like a charm.
2) Many resolution settings and the intro scene that was letterboxed now fits the 16:9 screen while still keeping the aspect ratio (which means you still have some small bars on the left and right).
3) Key binding and rebinding is much more easy than with the original (you had to enter a seperate config program in the original).
4) Some graphic settings that might improve the look of the game (not sure how much these will do - it still is an old game).
5) If you like achievements you will have those as well now with Galaxy implementation - if not ... no bomus.

I also would like to add that they included the original bonus goodies as well. I own the original as well and compared those. So far I don't see any reason for fans of the original to notz buy this ... but I only played a little bit to see how controld are working.

For me it was really worth the small upgrade price - doubt that I will even play the original anymore now.
I also found a lot of new voxels not found in the original game, a new difficulty customizer and no way of going back to the base game if you load Cryptic Passage.

DoomSooth: Anyone who was going to buy the original already has. Why is it bad that they're only available together?
avatar
MarkoH01: Beacause your first statement simply is not true. Of course the probability that many already have bought the original is quite high but it's not a fact. So those who did not and that aren't interested in the remaster will now have to pay a bit more if they still want to get the original only.
If someone that's complaining about it couldn't find the time or money to buy it in the NINE YEARS that it's been here then I don't feel sorry for them. *shrug*

Did they fix the difficulty bug that was in the original?

Trid: Never played Blood and probably never will... but I guess it's nice?
You're missing out on one of the best FPS games of all time!
Haven't bought anything here since January. I might as well break my unbuying streak now.

If there's an easy way to find this out I test this for you. I just finished the first level on easy and it did not seem to be hard.

The bug only happens if you reload on the same level either from dying or manual reload. If playing on easy, the enemy damage goes way up on reload and vice versa if playing on hard.

Can try this but are you sure I would notice that it has become harder? Tell you what. I'll replay the same level and save/load right at the beginning. Be right back ...
Ohhohohoho. Yes! I've been looking for release updates for this for a long time now. With the discounted price I'm definitely snagging this, but hopefully one of these days my wallet "can live again!"

Thank you GOG and Nightdive. Please keep releasing these masterpieces. :D

Aaand yet another shameless money-grab on our dear GOG. Just get free fan stuff (hi-rez, bug fixes and so on) instead of it.

I just don't get the people who jubilantly buy the same games they already own over and over again.
For those of you who are interested regarding Galaxy Achievements:
I am running Galaxy v1.2.56 Beta & Achievements are not displayed in the Client.
Can somebody confirm that she/he have the same issue?
Thanks in advance.

Edit / SOLUTION: Now Achievments are getting displayed in Galaxy. Don´t know why, but at least it´s working. :-)
