GameRager: 1. I often find it fascinating looking into what is socially acceptable/taboo and why in different areas of the world and the history behind such.

2. Back ontopic: Sorry, I forgot there are different entity categories in Lovecraf's mythos.

idbeholdME: I would not call Tchernobog in Blood a god. More of an "essence" or representation of balance rather than a being by itself. It is moulded and transformed based on the morals and principles of the person which currently possesses this essence. The main duty of "The One That Binds" (the title of the one holding the essence) is to maintain the realities in proper order. It was only the 16th incarnation of Tchernobog that had him transformed into a cruel being with lust for power and dominion over everything because of the person it transferred to. Nevertheless, he still sought to his duties of keeping everything in order unlike Caleb (who became the 17th incarnation after killing him at the end of Blood 1). You can see the effects of this in Blood 2 where a lot of very weird stuff happens as dimensions collide because Caleb is ignoring his newfound duties at first.

It should also be noted that in order to bring on the next incarnation of Tchernobog, the previous one has to be killed as he doesn't die of natural means.
Good info(Although I already knew much of it), and it makes me wonder: Does anyone else see the resemblance between the trasferring of the essence in the blood series with a certain tim allen series?

I also wonder: If caleb wanted to transfer the power on to an ally they'd have to kill him....which would suck I guess.
Great release indeed!
I will personally wait for the Linux release.

And... It's been days... weeks... months... years?!... that I'm waiting for Exhumed/Powerslave EX...

Does that mean, that the owner's discount is inly temporary?
I'd really like to see the Linux port before buying. :/

Klumpen0815: Slapping BloodGDX on it and asking for another 5 bucks (10 if you didn't own it) + regional fee for it?
Actually it's not even that. It uses KEX, and boy. It has it's own unique options but it's generally worse at this point.

Still fits certain definitions of gods/divinities whatever you wanna call them. And philosophically speaking everything is being, what you want to say is that Černobog isn't a person. And as I said, "gods" don't need to be person, take Spinoza's definition, Force from Star Wars or Yog-Sothoth.

Lovecraft himself didn't create classification, it's result of Derleth and CoC RPG. Lovecraft himself is very inconsistent. If the question was if Tchernobog is Lovecraftian entity, then the answer is yes, but he is also classical (Christian) demon.

Please tell me the GOG version will get linux support

Still waiting for Turok 2

KP1990: Please tell me the GOG version will get linux support
FWIW, Icculus is making the Linux port of Blood right now, at least that's what Kaiser told me.

There's the problem, since it has Linux support on Steam, I fear Galaxy multi-player and the lack of a Linux port of Galaxy may yet again prevent that.

I don't even need multi-player, just want to play the campaign of Turok 2 and Blood.

Partially.

Tchernobog in Blood is not a person, not energy, nor anything else. He basically does not exist by himself.
avatar
GameRager: Good question. If someone wants to buy the original they have to buy the new version to get it? How is this fair to those who might not want the new version?

Some might not have the original yet.
avatar
gameragodzilla: Why is that necessary? If you want the original, you can buy this version and just play the original. The Bioshock Remaster had the original bundled in on GOG but didn’t have it separate. Neither did Rune Gold in Rune Classic. I’m only annoyed if the original version just flat out isn’t available, like Doom 3 BFG Edition not including the vanilla version.

Is $5 extra really too much for that many people?
I see it like this: if the game was not previously available here then I'm okay with only having the original version as an extra for the re-release, but removing a classic game from the catalog for no good reason doesn't fly with me. It defeats the very purpose of this site.

I might actually rethink buying Turok 2 at all (or anything else from Nightdive going forward) just to show my distaste for this move, even though I like what they are doing with the games they remaster (sans this policy) and even though Turok 2 was not previously available here.

So you're saying he's just in caleb's head, then? ;P

(Ya know what I mean....it has to exist in some form somewhere or else it wouldn't make sense storywise/etc)

It's not removed, it's just added to another version of the game. If they remove a previous version of the game, or don't bother including it (like in the case of Doom 3), then I see the issue. This is a non-issue.

What would you consider the purpose of this site? (since GOG isn't called "Good Old Games" anymore) I don't think they view their job as "preservation" really especially in the cases when preservation doesn't pay the bills.

Also GOG did this previously with Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.
low rated

A non issue...to you. ;)

Imo this is like if someone wanted a cheeseburger with everything BUT bacon(due to not liking or being able to partake in pork), and being told that in order to get the burger they have to get the bacon on it as well....while also being told they can just scrape it off after buying it.

Basically you shouldn't have to pay for something you don't want/need to get something you do want/need....even if it's just an extra dollar. It's the principle for some people.
