Cat scratch fever!

Legend of Kay Anniversary a remastered release of the PS2 action-platforming classic, is available now for Windows and soon to Mac OS X, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

From the PlayStation 2, through the Nintendo DS, and straight onto your personal home computer. The Legend of Kay returns with a completely remastered experience thanks to high resolution textures, high-poly models, modern rendering techniques and surround sound - but with all of the same level design and gameplay you may already know and love. Kay is cat. But not the cute and fuzzy kind of kitty cat, he's the leap around slashing and slaughtering gorillas kind of ninja kitty cat. Back when it was just released, the Legend of Kay was lauded for its satisfyingly dynamic combo based combat, as well as smooth, fast and super responsive controls. As it turns out, with just a few updates the gameplay holds up just as well as it ever did, and this one is a must-have for anyone with a knack for a varied and skill-based mix of combat and platforming.

The PS2 classic returns in Legend of Kay Anniversary, available DRM-free on GOG.com! The 10% launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, August 4 at 12:59 PM GMT.

ReynardFox: Though in this instance I don't mind, have you seen Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water? I can't think of a better way to play FF than using the Wii U gamepad as the Camera Obscura. I can't wait.
No, I'm not familiar with that one. But I don't have any of the latest gen consoles either. That does sound like a novel use of the controls though! And I'm glad to hear the series lives on. It frankly frightens me more than any other game ever has.

Yeah Fatal Frame (or Project Zero here) really knows how to instill a sense of foreboding terror like few others. The closest I could think of would be Amnesia.

The new one has you exploring much larger areas as well as creepy houses, like forest and deserted suburban areas, it's shaping up really nice.

seems this has a fight with the camera to play. So that puts me off

Elmofongo: Everyone and their mothers owned a PS2, thats how huge the console was.
Says who?

"From Puerto Rico"

Maybe this explains it? I had never even touched a playstation 2 until at least 2004. Where I live those 'other' consoles where FAR more popular. It says alot that more of my childhood friends had a Dreamcast(!) then a Ps2. While other folks where playing weird games with whiny little boys with big swords, and goofy hedgehogs, us MEN where playing Halo. (and obviously all the great PC games at the time.)

Anyway. I don't remember what my point was, other than to show you that Sony isn't that popular where I live.

This game is a pleasant surprise. Not the kind of thing I'm used to on PC, so I'm very excited to try it out.

Well, the US is a pretty huge place and you guys don't actually need to take a look at the outside world. If I was one to pay attention to the video game "journalism" websites, I would have been certain the Xbox brand was a *huge* thing. Well, it isn't, it's just huge in the US and, to an extent, in the UK. Most countries in Europe and, most notably, Japan couldn't care less about any of the Xbox consoles. Here in Portugal all three Microsoft's consoles sold like crap, I honestly don't know a single person who owns an Xbox 360, let alone an Xbox One, over here everyone has Sony consoles and always had, ever since the first PlayStation (Portugal has the biggest PlayStation marketshare in the world, surpassing 90%). If you go to any store outside Lisbon or maybe Porto, it's really hard to even spot a Microsoft console up for sale, whereas there are plenty of PS3s, PS4s -- and even Wii Us.

I understand how big the United States are, and how huge and dominating your market is, to the point "the rest of the world doesn't really matter all that much", but the rest of the world doesn't really give that much money to Microsoft via their forays into the console scene. Most of the world basically buys and plays Sony's consoles, and the PS2 was, indeed, huge, it wasn't only in Puerto Rico, it happened pretty much everywhere else.
The entirety of Puerto Rico's population barely matches Los Angeles. Portugal has what? 1/300th of the United State's population? I'm not trying to be rude, but there are certain countries that can make claims to 'HUGE'. India, China, Russia, the UK, Japan.

*EDIT*

Damnit, that was the start of a fairly lengthy response and then I looked up the most sold console of all time. I swore it was the Gameboy or NES. Its the damn PS2. I'll concede that I was utterly wrong.

...I still don't like the PS2. Dat controller. Ugh.

I am talking about global sales and the PS2 was the highest selling console of all time. Beating the Xbox and Gamecube. Alot of 3rd party support was on the ps2.

Can you please define soon as in coming in a few days or few weeks?

Well it's a GOG "Soon" rather than an Axl Rose "soon", so you can be sure that it won't be several years away...

And the PS4 sales are also extremely strong:

BreOl72: Never had a PS 2, so I've never heard of this one.
Well, I've had three PS2s, and I've never heard of this game, either. [shrugs] Maybe it was bigger in Europe than over here.

apehater: anyone played legend of gay and can recommend it?
avatar
IAmSinistar: That's a completely different game.
I'm waiting with cash in hand for the inevitable Kickstarter to do a remaster (or ream ass-ter! hahahahaha...ugh...shouldn't attempt comedy at this hour)/port of this game.

EDIT: <--- WOOHOO! I'm marked with the Number of the Half-Beast!

Well, according to GOG, soon could mean 2 years. :D

I guess that it might not take more than a week, though (Victor Vran also had its Mac OS version coming soon and it's already here).

I asked Judas and his answer was "Usually when we announce Mac support as Coming Soon it means we expect the Mac version within the next day or so, maybe longer." He said generally they don't say coming soon if it will take months.
