amok: Only since we started counting bugs as DRM. But I guess since DRM today = everything I do not like, then I guess that's fine
True! This is not DRM, only a bug. Hope they can fix it soon.

king_kunat: Alright, here are some updates regarding the issues with Beat Hazard 2 and Beat Hazard 3:

1. Beat Hazard 2 - the game couldn't be played without an internet connection and would be stuck in the loading screen trying endlessly to establish a connection.

We've had this issue before, which was later fixed, but it seems that the latest update for the game has brought it back. Right now, we've forced a rollback to the previous version (free of this problem) and we'll investigate it further to get rid of it in the 1.23 version.

EDIT: version 1.20 suffers from this issue as well, even though we thought we'd fixed it. Looking into it.
Yes, you thought it has been fixed which is the reason why I reported it to you again after that fix as you can see here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/post1426
It is a pity that this apparently has been ignored,

Regarding both games: Why didn't you test them without being online?
You have a quality assurance and you advertize GOG games saying that all games can be played offline! Not being online once but completely offline! That is a promise and legally part of the contract. So whenever you test a new game this should be your main focus. Every game should be able to be played without internet connection and without Galaxy and every GOG version should be able to be downloaded without a client - aka existing and working offline installer. This should be your priority whenever you test any game!

Things like this should not happen at all - you (meaning GOG) let them happen a few times now (just take a look at the DRM'd single player games thread) and you really should strart to make sure that they don't happen again. The backlash is well deserved and everybody who purchased this game should be able to get a refund - in fact imo GOG should tell them about this option.

Okay - rant is over. Please, guys - make this right and get better in the future :)

king_kunat: (....)it does not occur when the game has been launched at least once with an active internet connection. So if you want to play it offline, you have to run it with the Internet just one time - no connection is required after that one launch.

Of course, we are well aware that it is not an ideal situation and we'll also look into it to get rid of it completely.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for raising it!
No problem : )
Please remove the obstacles, DRM, or bugs, for offline installers to play it offline.
I am taking them to my Secret Temple of St. Peace and there is no Internet, as this place is designed to play without distractions. When offline installation doesn't do what it should, install and play offline, the only other option is to play Galaxy installation on the other computer and it stops being optional.

There is a page
https://www.gog.com/about_gog
"Owning the things you buy
We don't believe in controlling you and your games. Here, you won't be locked out of titles you paid for, or constantly asked to prove you own them - this is DRM-free gaming."

Optional Galaxy is optional online play with achievements cloud saves and chat.

Mandatory offline installers are to be installed offline and play offline if one likes.

Thank you for helping with the cleanliness and virginity of our Sanctuary of Play as you Like.

For Beat Hazard 2 the strange thing is that before it was working without Galaxy, but you needed to be online at least one for the save file to be created but Galaxy wasn't required, I tested today and not you still need to be online but now it also requires to have Galaxy running.

For Beat Hazard 3 I also tested and while offline, without Galaxy (very first launch) I was able to start the game, reach the main menu and play arcade more.

Beat Hazard 3 received another update. This might have fixed the issue already.
Now we are waiting for Beat Hazard 2 to be fixed.

Needing to be online at all, even just for one time is unacceptable for something that's supposed to not have any drm.

I agree, my point was that, for Beat Hazard 2, the "patch" actually made it worse because on top of the being online once requirement, it added the Galaxy requirement which wasn't there before.

Which is probably the reason why they removed it already (Galaxy and offline). So right now Galaxy should not be needed anymore ... online connection probably still is.
