Fancy a bite, mate?

Basingstoke is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 15% discount until May 4th, 5pm UTC.
After the alien+zombie apocalypse hit, things got dark. Like, really dark. There, in the perilous shadows of Basingstoke, UK, you scavenge for equipment that will help you escape the fallen city. Sneak past them, create clever diversions, or craft awesome weapons to de-animate the reanimated meanies as you explore procedurally generated levels and unlock new characters. Smashing, innit?
Little known fact about me: when I recently lived in London, I made a point to specifically visit Basingstoke. That's because of a film, released in 1998, called Get Real (a coming of age and coming out film), that helped on my own coming out, way back then (in the 90s, was still a big deal, hence films like those).

Soooo... I'll probably be buying this game at some point, didn't even see what's about haha. Wishlisted.

Ophelium: I usually don't argue about the price of something but I'm not seeing the justification in the screenshots or trailer.
That was my first impression too. It looks like a $15 to $20 game at full retail undiscounted price.

I'm really enjoying it so far. The game is a lot more about stealth than arcade action in the early game. Everything is dark, but you've got a torch and there are other light sources. You want to stay in the shadows and keep your lights off as much as possible so the enemies can't see you, but you can just flash the light on long enough to spot loot. Normal running movement is loud, and enemies will investigate noises, but you can sneak to avoid making noise. Enemies can kill you in one hit with an attack, but there's a bit of a 'wind-up' animation before they attack, and you can't die just from contacting the enemy. There are assorted items you can find in the environment, like egg timers, flash bangs, or food you can throw to create distractions, and you can craft stuff like bombs, poison gas, and amusing sandwiches that can cause monsters to burst into flames, starting a chain reaction. The game has you proceeding from different safe-houses where your progress and all the items you've collected are saved. You never have to travel too far between camps, and if you die, you only lose the items and the progress between the safe-houses. There's lots of nice touches, like when you're looting a car, and its alarm goes off, causing all the enemies to scramble to investigate, and you can hide in dumpsters while they pass by. There's plenty of other impressions out there if you want to check some gameplay out for yourselves if you're still unsure. :)

Bigs: Re the game itself - looks interesting... price seems a bit high... wishlisted for now pending review / player thoughts and/or a sale
Same. Game looks vaguely interesting to me, and the UK setting is always a welcome change of flavour to the majority of US based games. But at that price point, for what it is, I'll probably wait until it's about 50% discounted.

Not sure how I feel about the graphics style. Seems like they really couldn't be arsed to model and animate proper characters. At least it looks somewhat original.
While I'm not purchasing this game anytime soon (due to limited hardware), I do wish Puppy Games the best of luck with this. In a situation similar to that suffered by Arcen Games and Introversion Software, Basintstoke is Puppy Games' do-or-die game, in that the company was almost out of money when they started its development, thanks to some business decisions that didn't quite pan out.

SCPM: The game is...
Thanks for writing that. The game's trailer gave me absolutely no understanding of what kind of game this was, so that was very helpful.

Now that Puppygames is here I hope for Revenge of the Titans. It's the best tower defence game I ever played.

Vythonaut: The "Select Character" screen reminded me of the Revenge of the Titans, one of the few defence titles i enjoyed. I searched about Puppy Games and it turns out they are actually the devs of RotT; i don't know why it isn't on GOG yet, but it would make a great addition in the GOG indie dpt.
Also Titan Attacks, Ultratron, and Droid Assault. All of their previous games are old favorites of mine, so I'm hoping to see all of them here at some point.

Nice, will pick it up after release.

Also, do ask gog to give you a yellow developer colour for the forums.
I don't think GOG want the other titles.

Just had a look at Ultratron. I would probably buy it, although it could use more Llamas. Wishlist entry here.

And Droid Assault.

Voted for both.
