Robette: I get that a lot of people wanted that release, but the price point has to be a joke?
Because its a new re-release of the game in HD.

But I get that the price is a tad too high.

Lethargus: Hope they also do the second game.
I also hope we get Champions of Norrath and its sequel Champions: Return to Arms. and Dungeons and Dragons: Heroes.

All 3 of these games are pretty much using the same engine and gameplay as Dark Alliance.

I remembered that I had this game on the Game Boy Advance for years and never played it. I guess now is a good time to finally do it, instead of blowing my budget on this new release of the game.
The price is high, but I'm not surprised:

1) Interplay prices™
2) Licensing
3) PC port
Well, the price is a bit steep, but it's nice to see it ported to PC, and nice to see that Beamdog isn't involved. Is this just the classic game then, no additions or changes other than adapting it to run on modern machines?

I played the game on console some years back and recall it being a relatively simple but fun hack 'n' slash. See monsters, slash/shoot/blast monsters, etc. Basic story but it works well enough.
low rated

Breja: ...demanding DRM. Actually, some people pretty much are, with achievements.
avatar
teceem: The achievements are DRM'ed, but they're optional here. They're not asking for DRM on the game itself.
I guess you're kidding again...

But then there's this guy (you know who) that keeps repeating that games with achievements on Steam and not on GOG shouldn't be sold here... I have no words for that.
You're either dense or a straight up liar. He never asked for a game without achievements to be removed / not be sold on GOG, only that achievements be added to games that already have them on Steam. Yes, I know, it boggles the mind. /s

The utter idiocy that achievements are somehow a form of DRM (not surprising, coming from the most toxic individual on these forums) does not even deserve an answer.

Wait, there's a GBA version?
Good to see it here, but I concur with everyone, the price is absolutely insane for a digital copy of game that old - and despite being decent in its own right by all counts the weakest entry in the series, and developed for consoles, with all massive drawbacks and faults that entails to boot.

I see Interplay's usual delusions are still at play, I mean, 30 bucks for this game... ludicrous. To put it in a somewhat polite manner.

It's hilarious though. This game is like 12 bucks on Steam, at least for me.
Not looking forward to an announcement of no Dark Alliance II port, with the blame on "low sales" of the first one, instead of on the price of the first one.

russellskanne: Guys, my post was a joke.
Somehow all my obviously sarcastic posts recently are taken way too serious. Seems like I have to decorate everything with emoticons in the future...
:P
No "somehow", about it, by it's nature sarcasm is not obvious, unless spoken, because you say the exact same words as that guy that meant every word, and your sarcasm is made clear by the way you speak the words, not what you say.

When written the expression of speech is gone, and just leaves the exact same words
Whether you intended sarcasm, is obvious only to you, the reader only sees the written word, not your intent.

Amazes me how many people don't understand this basic fact
Sarcasm can never be written without also adding the now missing spoken infexion that makes it so obvious. e'g. Added {Sarcasm}

You might be getting a regional discount. It's the same price on Steam.

Yes, the game has a regional discount for some countries in Latam in all Stores except on GOG.
You mean an old game re-released by Interplay is ridiculously overpriced?

Imagine my shock.

I hope they aren't shocked when the sales are low... I bet they still blame 'lack of interest' if they cancel any port plans for the sequel.

Crevurre: by saying you had a lot of fun with dumbed down console games, you are justifying their decision in their minds. pc gamers should never support consoles and do everything they can to censor, oppress, and minimise all console content, even on console websites. that way the couch surfing game devs who larp as gamer now, can't access console players.
Look at the ridiculous elitism on display here, as if everyone has to be loyal to one platform, and that franchises should never dare experiment with other genres, rejecting games coming from other platforms because they don't live up to some asinine purity test. Last I checked, this game existing didn't kill traditional CRPGs when it came out, nor is its existence on PC now going to do it either.

Dark Alliance was a good action game, and it still is, just because it isn't a CRPG doesn't make it bad or 'dumbed down', it's an entirely different genre, neither is there anything wrong with consoles, quality console ports, or those that support games development on multiple platforms. Get over yourself.
