I am so confused about Axis & Allies 1942 Online.

Can someone correct me or provide me better information?

When Axis & Allies 1942 Online was announce all the way back in 2018 or whatever. I followed it and I thought it will be a video game that costs money for a short time while being developed and then become a Free to Play (F2P) video game after that?

If they changed and decided not to make it a Free to Play (F2P) video game I am very happy and if it is 100% playable in singleplayer offline.
Interesting.

Wish they would release more single player versions of MMOs.

how good is this in single player?
I wonder how well this compares to triplea. I see at the very least it does not support the original expansion games (Pacifc/Europe, and I guess more I was never aware of, like D-Day). I wonder how long it will be before Beamdog or Hasbro takes triplea down. I don't really feel like giving Beamdog money for this game, in any case.

So it’s another Absolver type thing then. The game is clearly meant to be an online only game, with a “casual versus ai offline for training”. The veil has well and truly fallen from your face my dear GOG.
At least it doesn't seem to lock any content or progression behind always-online, like Absolver or HITMAN?
What's more puzzling is that while it's released here in a "finished" state it's still "in development" over on the other platform.

https://www.gog.com/game/axis_allies_1942_online is more or less completely formatted in italic for some reason, too.

It is indeed a bit challenging to understand that a game that has "Online" in its title is said to work offline.
I'm not familiar enough with this game to know whether there is any significant difference between online and offline modes.

But online game doesn't necessarily mean DRM. If the game allows online connectivity between any IP addresses, and doesn't require any central server, it would be an online game but also DRM-free.

I think the network version of Civilization, CivNet, worked just like that. There wasn't any servers for it, but the game was modified to allow P2P network playing. It also ran perfectly as an offline single-player game.

So it is possible to have online games with no DRM and fully working offline modes. Whether anything like that is the case here, I don't know.

I am not interested in anything with Online in the title particularly when we have not gotten an explanation of how the Hitman Online DRMed release had arrived on this store in the first place. Granted, at a glance, this Axis and Allies release appears to have hotseat, which I applaud and commend! I'm just saying that trust has been eroded and y'all could stand to read the room a little...we're what, only like a couple weeks out from the Hitman release debacle?
This gets me Win War II vibes (also da**, there wasn't even a wishlist entry for it).

How does the single attack by multiple enemy controlled zones feel in this game?
For those wondering what the game is about, it's the digital adaptation of the board game, Axis & Allies 1942, 2nd Edition.

Definitely up my alley. But what is the reason for missing Linux build on gog.com?
