Two gauls to slap them all.
And bought.
It looks so off. It is almost in the style of the original comics, but with something strange in it that I would have a hard time describing.

No. I think it is the hand-drawn style of the comics that they did not manage to replicate correctly, or something like that.

Right. It's been quite a while since I've seen an actual Asterix book/comic in the flesh, so can only go from memory. It does look pretty close (if maybe a little off) though...
I guess it might look a bit to flat and "clean", but it still looks very good to me (and it looks better in motion than still images). The worst thing is probably the title, which hardly matters.

By the way, did anyone else here read the newest comic, Asterix and the Griffin? I really enjoyed it and thought it's probably the best of the new "post-Uderzo" books. It's definitely the best looking one.

I think it's mostly the cell shading and the flat lines, while the original comics has lines of varying thickness, and not all of them were closed or touching - notice the variety of lines and how some of them don't connect and are just filled by colour.

see how short shadowing lines defining volume are missing, for example the rocks and Obelix's shoulder joints

The classic arcade had much better and lively graphics -_-

You are right, that is exactly it! I also find the game dull looking when compared to the comics, mainly because they used darker and more bland colors, at least in my opinion.

I do not like the way the game looks. It is close to the original Uderzo style, but the small differences make it weird looking, almost in an "uncanny valley" kind of way.

3D, the word you're looking for is 3D.

The characters are 3D models, and it looks different enough from the actually drawing to be "weird".

(also, it's too "perfect")

Steam reviews are not good for now. Has anyone played here?
I'm delighted to see a game like this release, so I will probably wind up purchasing it, but yes, there's definitely something a little off with the characters and presentation. A kind of uncanny valley effect, which perhaps just goes to show what a master Uderzo really was.
But I wonder if this is even noticeable to anyone who hasn't read Uderzo and Goschiny's great works thousands of times, as I'm several of in this thread have done.

Btw, can we get a proper Tintin adventure game? Pretty please?
I mean it sure does look very faithful.

I'd wish for a remaster of the classic Arcade Asterix and the c64 Asterix game but this game honestly looks fine.

I did.
Honestly, I found it rather "meh".
Don't get me wrong: I didn't find it really bad - it's just not really good, either.
