Ghost in the machines.

Inception, the latest DLC for Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation brings an intriguing scenario and 4 new maps and is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

The Substrate of planet Oneiros have been corrupted by a malicious entity and must be neutralized. Here's your choice: either side with their uncompromised brethren to rescue and restore them or help the PHC put them down.
Inception also brings 4 new maps of all shapes and sizes, perfect for some intense strategic action against friends or the AI.
I mean it's not that I don't like additional content for games, but I'm starting to feel that burn out of more and more paid DLC all the time. I suppose it was inevitable that GOG would have to get in to selling DLC with the move from strictly (Good OLD Games) and an increase of new titles to the Store, but it's a bit sad to see the list of DLC for some of these games any more. Stardock moto "You Buy our games but you Pay for our DLCs"
Paradox for example does this a lot as well. I understand give and take of rolling content updates but yeah it does feel like being nickle and dimed to death.

Another take that I have seen discussed is it is the same as expansion packs but less risk as people can pick and choose but I tend to disagree with this. Paradox for example will make changes and those get bundled in whether you agree with them or not so skipping some of their DLC you are still impacted by their changes. From a developers perspective it makes sense keeping their code base consistent but supporting the idea of the DLC model in my opinion does not hold up very well.

Time to add that DLC Mona Lisa picture... bleh.

Damn... someone actually noticed. ;D

I guess the only successful way of ensuring an official news post regarding a DLC release goes by unnoticed would be burying it in the Brussel sprouts fuelled forum mayhem of fortune_p_dawg's non-stop celebratory explosions of gassy exuberance following the long-awaited arrival of Oblivion.

The only good thing is that Stardock actually dropped prices for their new dlc. In beginning they wanted over 5€ for such tiny dlcs. Now its 2.89€ and with a sale half a year later you get to the actual price of 1.5€. Not that bad in the end.
Ashes of the benchmark.
