We definitely asked for this

<span class="bold">Ashes of the Singularity</span>, a vastly ambitious RTS of clashing transhuman armies, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, and a 10% launch discount.

Was relying on A.I.s to transcend our biological limitations ever going to end well? Sure, post-humans may have used their unprecedented potential to conquer space, transform the planet, and achieve feats once thought unimaginable. But the greedy, manipulative human nature apparently transcends all. And once triumphs over technology and space became commonplace, so did the war for ultimate supremacy.

Much like the aforementioned synthetic super-brain, Ashes of the Singularity utilizes a multi-core A.I. that can simulate the challenge posed by (trans)human opponents in an awe-inspiring way. The powerful 64-bit engine can also offer us sprawling maps that support scores of super-detailed units, with their effectiveness decided by a targeting system which makes use of true line-of-sight physics. Since its early access phase, more playable factions, game modes, global abilities, and the single-player campaign Ascendancy War have also been added to the game.

Transcend the constraints of human nature and emerge victorious from the <span class="bold">Ashes of the Singularity</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until April 7, 18:59 BST / 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT.

JudasIscariot: They're tagged as "InDev reviews" so I hope that will be sufficient enough to let potential purchasers know that those are not reviews of the final game :)
avatar
Grargar: But can an in-dev reviewer submit a final review now?
Ha, good question! They'll probably have to create a second account and purchase a final release copy. ;P
About the Linux version. Compare their old FAQ: https://web.archive.org/web/20150702225104/http://www.ashesofthesingularity.com/game/faq

And the current one: http://www.ashesofthesingularity.com/game/faq

Note the removed part:

Q: What platforms will Ashes of the Singularity be on?
A: Windows PC for now, but we are entirely confident that we’ll release Ashes on MacOS, SteamOS, and Linux. Oxide Games is part of the Khronos group, which is developing the next-gen Vulkan graphics API that should be the API of choice on those platforms. This gives us great confidence in getting Ashes and Nitrous running on those platforms in the not-too-distant future.
I hope it doesn't mean they changed their plans.

Does the game use Vulkan already by the way?

Nope, they wen't with directx 12 for Windows. I asked about Linux version in Steam forums and they said that there is no specific release schedule yet so it seems they are still working on it. Also there won't be a mac version since apple did not adopt Vulkan and neither does it support directx 12.
Well caved in and bought this but will now have to stop buying games for some time after xcom series, grim dawn, dying light and the likes of evil island, Sea Dogs, konung and starcrawlers this week i spent to damm much.

Breja: I'd be very interested in this a year or two ago. But if my recent attempts at playing RTS games proved anything it's that my days of playing them are in the past. I was never very good at them, and always liked turn based more, and now I just lost whatever willingness I had to put up with the hectic nature of theirs. It's just too fast, too much, it's not fun for me anymore. I guess I got old :(
I know what you mean ;-)
I am bad at RTS, but I still love this genre of game, so I will probably buy it, but the recommended requirements are so high ! I think it will have to wait until I build a new computer

Chacranajxy: Wait, so this is the real deal now? Like, not a beta?
avatar
Matruchus: Yes, its final release version. Though they will add monthly updates like bigger maps, mac os and linux support, etc.
That sounds like a Beta or rushed release to me. Certainly not a "Final Release Version". Sneaky developers/publishers are being sneaky again.

Edit: Wait a second! It's a April the first joke!

AMD currently bundles a key for Ashes of the Singularity with their R380(X) cards. Can I redeem such a code on gog?

In their "Terms and Conditions" there is only mention of steam, origin and uplay (cannot post link).

Too bad, I would only get it if there was a Mac version these days.
So GOG people don't have Crossplay with this?

ShadowWulfe: So GOG people don't have Crossplay with this?
Nope, there is no Crossplay since that would mean for devs to move all of their existing multiplayer infrastructure from Steam servers to gog servers. Unfortunately for Crossplay to work both gog and Steam users have to use gog servers and gog matchmaking service which is not going to happen.

So... basically Crossplay is never going to happen for anything.

Well they do seem to be interested in adding a LAN function so all hope is not lost.

While that's definitely useful if you want to play with friends, it won't help those who just want to find a game with strangers.

Speaking of which, can anyone with the game check what the GOG multiplayer lobbies look like? Are there people playing, or is it a ghost town?

Doesn't a LAN function make it easier to add Crossplay though? I think I read that somewhere. I'm no Techie so don't quote me on it.
