shmerl: GOG is not a "niche", it's second after Steam in size really.
But.. it still misses a ton of AAA games found elsewhere, so I don't think it's perceived as a big store maybe..

Anyway, is it really second to Steam for users and catalog size? Wow!

DRMed ones, and since it's a DRM-free store, it's naturally not here. But that's the whole point. People use GOG because they don't want any of the DRM garbage. Size wise, GOG is second to Steam as far as I know.

I use Gog for that, but what about the majority of people?
I don't think that if you ask elsewhere what's the perceived biggest store after Steam, they'll tell you "Gog".
Many don't even know it or care about DRM.

budejovice: Not my cup of tea at all.

mattymuc: Yes, I really should stop supporting kickstarter projects. So many games on GOG where we backers don't get a GOG key :-(
No key for Armello, no key for Armikrog, no key for Massive Challice...
avatar
budejovice: Interstellaria is another. One of only 2 games I backed on KS. I imagine I'll get a GOG key for the second one, though, Obduction from Cyan.

I won't back other projects on KS because I prefer my games on GOG.

EDIT: Still haven't claimed the damned thing from Humble. Way to get your game out in the world! :)
I just finished downloading the Humble version and surprise surprise it's shit, no installer just the game in a zip file. You want a desktop shortcut, make one yourself! I think you get better service than this when you pirate games.

It's nowhere niche. A lot of people prefer DRM-free releases, otherwise GOG wouldn't have existed to begin with. There was some research about percentage of people who reject DRM for different reasons. And it's pretty high.

That's like pointing out that GOG is the world's tallest midget. Everything is niche compared to Steam.

Not anymore. It's not 10 years ago.

Have to agree with you there. Most people don't really care as long as they get their "fix".

Anyway, the game itself looks pretty good. Hope it sells well.

At last Armikrog arrived.
I was waiting soooo long for it.

I pre-ordered it during GOG summer sale in June and because there were a lot of other goodies to spent my money on, I only ordered the base version.
Now I would like to get the soundtrack too.
Is there any hope, that we can buy the soundtrack alone?
Or what about an upgrade?

I started a new thread specifically for backer's keys issue. If you are a backer and interested in GOG key for Armikrog, please comment here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/armikrog_can_developers_get_gog_keys_for_backers

Yeah, there's a lot of them. Wings Remastered also did not give GOG keys out to backers.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation is even worse. The game was 2 years late in being delivered. They promised a DRM-free version and still haven't gotten that out 6 months after release. And from what I've heard, the game doesn't run well at all anyway. I couldn't even play it if I wanted because they implemented a DX11 requisite and my GTX280 only supports DX10. It's just sitting as an unclaimed item in my Humble account too. Even if the DRM-free version ever gets released on GOG who knows if backers will get a GOG key...

And it doesn't really matter in this case. GOG is the biggest drm-free store. And the kickstarter promised a drm-free version. And it's not like they don't know GOG; they released the game here. And even doing a preorder promo.
Hey guys, I have an issue in the menu I cannot see the menu buttons, legends are just hidden, have anyone this problem too? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you're right. Wings Remastered is not in my GOG library because I did not got a key as a backer... I'm happy I got a key for Satellite Reign from devs.
In future I will only back games when a GOG key is promised.
Looks like a ton of work went into this project so a full price purchase would seem in order, sadly it's above my maximum pain limit price-wise so I'll have to wait until it goes on sale for the first time. Stasis had a 20% introductory discount which made it easier to pull the trigger, with just 10% off for preordering Armikrog it's notably easier to resist. Anyway, a very welcome addition to the catalog!
