Smannesman: Is this the one most people hate?
Yes, it is hated by Gothic-fanatics.

But don't listen to them, this is a quite solid hack and slash action RPG...

Well being a completionista I kind of have to get them at some point anyway, I was just curious.
I vaguely remember people being very upset with this one.

Yes, because for Arcania they did want be like Gothic 1 or 2 (remade with better graphics?).
Not to speak of their problems with Gothic 3 or the Risen series.

These are the kind of people, who thinks, that Gothic, especially 2 is the Alpha and Omega.
No, they are not.
Finally the Gothic series is complete and the lauch discount is very tempting...
I wonder if they ever patched the camera issues that made it all but unplayable when I tried to finish it on Steam.

I might give it another go and hope they fixed the issues I had with it, or it might just sit in my account and never be touched, but the "Gothic" collection is now complete.

Well, I always said I would only buy it if both the main game and the DLC were available together, DRM-free and for less than 10€. I guess I'm gonna have to stick to that now, right?
Completionists rejoice!
Honestly... Previously when I still claimed my steam account I had bought this and even tried playing it on PC, but my triple wide format did NOT go over well with this one.

More recently I just bought and completed a full playthrough of this with the overhauled PS4 version in July.

Query: I would presume that the PC version would have patches and direct from developer mods available to make the PC version match the PS4's "complete tale" upgrades. (can anyone confirm this?)

So knowing I have bought this twice before.. and now after playing through it and truly struggling to complete it with how rough and borderline bad it is, I cant see buying this on GOG for DRM version any time soon. Would have to be a major discount, and I would have to be in a situation of just wanting to waste money, which is not a habit I get into.

Its pretty bad. Not talking say "Bound by Flame" bad.. but yeah its pretty bad. That said... If you are downright jonesin for some sort of RPG sort of in a generic Skyrim vein.. and have never played it, It very well might be worth it because it is if nothing else a diversion. However in my situation I cant see spending money on something I have a physical copy of, for a game I know 100% for an absolute fact that I will NEVER play again. Not out of ill will.. just I dont have time to play the games I want. There are even some I would actually replay, This is never going to be one of of them with how many better, newer, and unplayed alternatives available.

Again, hard to express my personal distaste of it, which really is completely personal, and not come off trying to condemn it like making the recommendation to others to avoid this. I am not. Others, especially those like myself who did play the previous Gothic games, might well find some enjoyment and value here. I simply have already consumed any and all potential enjoyment I could get out of it.

Will say this as a positive, At least while it is on sale at this 4.99+ 3.75 for Fall = 8.75 in USD, its a solid value. Personally paid 16+ USD for the PS4 version. While not physical and having resellability, the DRM aspect would be at the least similar or close value. So as far as I see.. had I not bought and played the PS4 version... I would not hesitate to buy it for that sort of price tag. Current base price of 20+15 = 35 USD for a title pushing 6 years old however, not so much. Personally this seems like it should be auto bundled and given base price of 15.. 20$ at the absolute most IMHO.

Regardless of personal opinions and sentiment. Damned glad to see it available here, Especially because I seem to recall there were other non steam outfits that effectively had it as DRM free. However I might be mistaken there. So It is good to see yet another edition to the GOG library for those who it would be interested. The more options, the better. GoG has been stellar at never having a shortage of things for us to chose from, even if the industry seems to want to keep everything from us, or make ridiculous demands to get it.

ThomNG: Let's get back to the ArcaniA releases :) we are happy to see these titles here, additional ones will come for sure :)
I've bought and tried ArcaniA immediately and there's only a German voice over in the opening cutscene. The voice overs within the game are completely in English. Could you please fix that issue?

Great! Hoping this one will be in the next GOG Connect round :D

Thanks again GOG & THQ Nordic! =)

In this case, I would stuck with the Steam version - it's completely German, the one GOG sold has only the bad English voice overs. (And Polish, of course, but there I can't tell about its quality.)

Grargar: Hmm, no discount as of yet.

ThomNG: Already told GOG - discount will be live in a second :)
Can you put the rest of the Gothic games on sale while you're at it?

You're asking the wrong man - Nordic owns the Gothic series no longer. You have to ask the developer Piranha Bytes, they are their own publisher now as well here on GOG.
