Anima: Gate of Memories, a third-person action/RPG about a girl and a monster held together by a strange bond, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Being a teenager is a schizophrenic enough experience, so when a demon takes up residence inside your soul, you know you're in for a wild ride. Something dark binds Ergo and The Bearer of Calamities together, but as a greater evil rises from the shadows, the girl and her demon must work together to conquer it. Spectacular moves and devastating attacks can be achieved through their special synergy, and as the adventure progresses you will unlock new abilities and customize the characters' unique skills to maximize their fighting potential. The world of Gaia is vast, diverse, and perilous, full of secret areas and legendary creatures that will challenge both your reflexes and creative thinking. Will your inner struggle get the better of you or will you manage to wield it as a weapon against the hordes of darkness?

Embrace the shadows and unleash your inner demon upon your monstrous enemies in Anima: Gate of Memories, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The game includes GOG Galaxy support for achievements, albeit the feature is still a work in progress.
The 20% discount will last until October 18, 2:59 PM UTC.

If i look to the screenshots and the trailer and i read the story, then it looks like a combination of Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms and Illusion of Time (also known als illusion of gaia).
This game looks interesting, though a bit weird.
Not sure if i buy it directly or wait. I have already a big collection of games which i still have to play.
I have wishlisted it.

This has been on my Steam wishlist, but since it's Steam I've been waiting to see it under $5.

Now it's on GOG and I just spent $80 on games this week.

On the wishlist it goes, but being here it moves up quite a bit.
I'm going to ask the question I always ask in ARPG threads....

Does it have native gamepad support?

I only play action RPGs with a gamepad. Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn are both awesome with a gamepad.

(EDIT: If not, I may go for the PS4 version, as someone mentioned above, as soon as I get a PS4. Still on the PS3 for now.)

I can confirm, yep it does. Though I don't think Grim Dawn is a close analogue; it's just my initial impressions, but it feels much closer to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow instead if you've played it, and like that game, by console standards it may qualify as an action/RPG, but by PC standards it's just a straight-up action game. Still fun, though.
Wow, this RPG looks great!

Thank you GOG! ^_^
Glad to see this released on GOG now. Looking forward to playing it in the future.

I'm going to eagerly await impressions on this one. I really like the description of a fluid transition from one character to another (I'm hoping it's a single button press that "morphs" you midmove, and opens up a second set of abilities / attacks that you can jump right into).

There's always the Steam reviews...
From what I've heard, that sounds exactly like the way it works.

ReynardFox: Hm, this IS my genre, but I'll wait for reviews, it takes special skill to make this kind of game truly shine.
Does no one frequent the Steam reviews?

Well, that's an interesting comparison.

rtcvb32: Anima.... Wasn't this a manga and an anime?
I've never heard about an anime version, but the three or four volumes I've read of the manga were pretty enjoyable.
...and so much for waiting.

Damn that wallet balance!

Gone now, so I hope there's nothing else that I want to buy pop up this month, but I've been enjoying it so far.

Well, I've never wanted to backhand a book so much before, but he's slightly less annoying than the elves in Divinity: Dragon Commander :)
I suspect it won't run properly on my laptop, so I'll pass for now; but I may get it on sale if it works well without a gamepad.

Does it have anything to do with the anime series of the same name?
Have this game on Steam. Nice to see it finally on GOG. My only complaint with it was not being able to find how to keep the camera angle set. Any time I had to move it somewhere, it stayed kinda off and had to put it manually back behind the character after taking a look around.

Made it a bit difficult to just take a look around for mobs or secrets to go after. I feel I've missed something if this isn't a problem for anyone else.

vicklemos: Humm... Sinister pal (if you can), please update me on how Anima performs on a modest pc. Thanks in advance, dude!
Okay, played some last night up (got through the first world and boss battle). It runs very fine on my PC, which has modest specs and a decent graphics card. My expectation that it is like Devil May Cry was pretty much on target, it's that kind of game. I have to say though that I didn't care for the English voice acting and muted the voices pretty quickly.

One thing the game really needs though is the ability to invert the X axis. Turning left and right is completely opposite of what I am comfortable with in most games, and the lack of a way to switch that ingame on the Xbox controller is really annoying. If anyone knows of a method or external app that lets you change this on an Xbox controller running under Windows, please let me know.

Thanks for the info. I will wishlist this for now... I do have Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3. Good game, though I'm strangely bad at it. I'm not normally bad at games, because I've been gaming for a very long time. So it's tempting to say there's something "off" about that game that makes me bad at it. But overall I think it's a pretty good game.

I will try this when it goes on a deeper sale or when I have a lull in my backlog. Right now I'm actively playing several games. (Grim Dawn, MOO 2016, and Dragon Age Origins primarily)
