Full support is nice, 50% discount is nice, now I wonder what they've done about the pre-order bonus considering what happened with pre-orders here. Perhaps I should do some digging.
EDIT:
It's official! Ancestors Legacy will be released on May 22nd, 2018! We're now offering you the chance to pre-purchase the game for a discounted price. You will also receive two cool digital gifts completely for free - the official soundtrack composed by Adam Skorupa and Wierzynkiewicz, and also the official artbook.
All of which seems fine as far as pre-order incentives go, but where is the option to get those for free on GOG?
That's $13 USD of content (GOG non-sale price for those items) on top of the 10% discount.
Which totals about $16.50 USD for the pre-order offered in the quote above. Current 50% discount gives about $17.50 off - $21.60 for the special edition -
so that's an actual savings of $1 off the price of the base game, or $5.10 off the price of the special edition. ~0.43 USD per month of delay seems a bit drab for the nearly year delay post relese.
Why not at least tie giving those pre-order goodies out free to the discount period and make them an upgrade later if you must, but for the poor communication and months late release after taking pre-orders on GOG it seems like now that it's
finally here, that's the least the Devs could do.
Offering a clear - and current - explination of why it took so long for them to release here, and there plans for support on this platform would be good too. And while I feel like I shouldn't have to ssay this, the statement should be made here not on some other platform, or made on their main website and linked here, either one.
But to be fair, I shouldn't lay this all on the Devs. Where is 1C Entertainment in all of this?
Aren't things like pricing, release info, and communications about same, all part of why publishers earn a piece of the action? Why haven't we heard anything from 1C about the delay, or the price point they've chosen to release at here? Or do they think lowing the base price from $44.99 to $43.19 and then giving a sale discount of 0.43 USD per month of delay is really something that speaks for itself?
Second EDIT Here's a link, I found it very much worth reading:
https://www.gog.com/forum/ancestors_legacy/official_apologies_from_destructive_creations/page1 Everyone needs to make their own decisions of course, but for me - based on my current level of understanding regarding the tech involved et al - this post makes a lot of sense and while I'm surprised to be saying it only a couple of days after my intital EDIT here, I am persuaded and for my part will be picking up a copy on GOG before the sale ends. I'm leaving the above post and EDIT as is for the sake of transperency. And I still wonder what 1C has to say regarding their part in all of this, but the Devs are doing right by us at this point IMO.
