SpiderFighter: Remember when the soundtrack, concept arts and sound bites weren't a more expensive "Warrior Edition," but a normal GOG release?

Me too.

omega64: I mean, they could remove the cheaper option and pretend the one with the soundtrack is the only one.
That's a completely fair point.

Yes. I do.

David9855: Triple A fun is what matters not budgets ;)
Fair comment.

What I meant: some more mainstream games, less indie stuff?

They looks decent, but most of the games released on GOG these days are kind of 2d platformers or retrocolones of some type.

I'm old enough have played space invaders when it was the mainstay of videogames.
These are nice, but still copies.

For me, even just having modern aesthetics would be good enough. I don't like it when indies artificially limit their games just to get that 'retro feel'. I can play old games for the bad graphics.
Just played 40 minutes of this and it's AMAZINGLY GOOD. If you liked Quake or Hexen/Heretic then buy this right now. It runs smooth as butter at 1440p on max settings with a GTX 1060 too, which is more than I can say for some other retro FPS games. I just praised Project Warlock for being fun a couple weeks ago but this is ten times better already.
You confirmed I'll wait for when is 2£

Cheers.

Wouldn't it be a great time to release Heretic/Hexen, Witchhaven and Chasm here, Gog-chan?

Yes, yes, yes, and definately yes! Mate, I would seriously love if any of those four games that you just mentioned came to GOG. But especially Action Forms' Chasm: The Rift. That's like one of my favourite games ever.

Wasn't it usually on old games instead of new ones?
I might be wrong since I do not usually care about those extras.

Yes, and 99 times out 100 it was stuff that was in the old "big box" release just scanned and uploaded.

Yeah, Chasm was great. I played it through multiple times over the years, and I think it surprised me each time I played it by just how much I liked it. One of the many games that got utterly overshadowed by Quake, but which I personally enjoyed a whole lot more than Quake. Chasm was more limited, but still brought some graphical tricks to the table; a good amount of environmental and enemy variety; and it was just fun.

Can't say I'm a fan of the visuals (not sure if it's just the style or if it's overusing post-processing) but the gameplay does look great.

Zoidberg: Musicians have rights to, including to their creation.
I'd honestly prefer if they would sell the rights to their music to the developer/publisher so we don't get all these overpriced soundtracks as dlc. What makes music any different than any other component of a video game?

What's your argument here? You already get all the music in the game. What other component of a video game do you expect to be extracted out and provided in its entirety as an independent entity alongside the game? (If you're expecting that for music and for no other game component, then you've answered your own question.)

Exactly, so why not include it separately in FLAC format too? Not all games have the music files out in the open sitting the directory though.

Huh, I think a lot of the trailers and marketing kinda implied that this was running on Unreal Engine 1, i.e. the original 90s engine, and that got me excited, but now I see it's UE4, and that's a little disappointing I think. Their "runs on a toaster" thing doesn't quite ring as true when you'll have to spend at least $150 on a PC with those specs (of course that's a very cheap PC, but I think "runs on a toaster" implies something like Ion Maiden which runs on an actual 90s engine. Even Dusk - which does not promote itself as running on _everything_ - has lower minimum requirements and seems like it would actually reasonably run on a PC from 2006-2007 or so.

Anyway, with the marketing in mind, I think they should've at least targeted the game to run on a raspberry pi 3 or something like that. Not that it put me off buying the game, I'll pick it up, but a retro aesthetic doesn't do a lot for me if it doesn't actually run on the hardware of yesteryear.
