shmerl: Who is the actress that plays the lady in the radio booth?
Hi!
I really don't know if she is the actress you are looking for because I haven't bought the video game. But from what I saw of the trailer I could see the South African actress Musetta Vander. She played Sindel in the less-than-memorable Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Musetta Vander plays Laura - the scientist that Jack is looking for. So it's not her.

It's Jenna Bodnar according to the game's credits, with the disclaimer 'to the best of our knowledge'.

Thanks, that seems correct!
Is the game really as cheesy as it looks like from the video ?

It's like over the top cheesy, but that's supposedly the point of it.
Great to see this get remastered and finally released although from Steam so this might be a GOG exclusive?

At least for now it's a GOG exclusive on PC, yes.
I'm curious about this game but I'll wait for a discount, plus I guess it's just voice without subtitles like other fmv, they should bring Snow Job too, originally only for 3DO.
Two questions for those who were able to test the game.

1) Are there subtitles in the videos?
2) Are the videos fullscreen or - as it looks in some of the screens - just a quarter of the screen with a still frame around them?

1) No, with the exception of the protagonist's inner monologue (and you can't turn them on or off, you get fixed no subtitles for regular dialogues and always on subs for the thoughts of the protagonist).

2) When you set the option to zoom in (as opposed to playing in the "tv set" overlay) I get close to fullscreen, with very small black bars on the side (the ratio seems to be close, but not quite 16:9).

In case you are interested, the game also doesn't allow you to skip the videos in any way (which is what's bothering me to no end, and the reason why I'll probably refund). You do get checkpoints every now and then, though, and you can pick any you unlocked, it seems.

What I did to get around this was go to the game's FMV folder, and replace any scenes I've already watched with a short clip. In my case, I just used the Ziggurat logo clip since it's right there. As long as the filename's the same as the replaced clip, it works.
Yes, ideally a skip scene button would be better, but a single scene at the last checkpoint is nearly 4 minutes long and there's almost 20 different combinations for the end to play out, so it's worth it.
Also, the game advises you that some scenes require you to mash an action key, but I only ever found one scene that utilized this (going for the ledge when the truck is chasing you). Though it's easy to miss, I didn't even notice it the first time.

That's a neat trick. What bothers me though, is that if someone uploads this game on youtube "correctly", we'd get a more functional version of the game, where we can skip, rewind, and so on (probably a better scene selection too, given the terrible UI idea of switching back and forth between the two choices). Plus, if the videos are in a regular format, then the game is literally a glorified video player, without basic features, who thought this was good enough?

Edit: Also, checking the FMV folder, it seems like they censored some nudity and stuff (the censored videos are all helpfully marked with "PG13" at the end). Hardly the end of the world, but still a bit annoying, and I can't imagine a patch for this being around. XD

Dohi64: not really an excuse, but some much more recent fmv (and not fmv) games don't let you skip scenes either (late shift, for instance), so it's a bit more acceptable from something this old, plus even a second playthrough will (or should) have mostly new scenes. I don't replay games but check alternate choices in fmvs if I can and even late shift was just about tolerable the second time around, and even with scene skip I wouldn't have bothered to unlock 7(?) endings.

mdqp: I think that's truly terrible. I don't even like it when games don't allow me to skip individual lines, if they have a lot of dialogues (RPGs and point-and-click adventures come to mind), but in a game where it's all choices and videos? Pure pain.

This is also one of those games with LOTS of mini-choices where if you get it wrong you die, so it's just unbearable to me. I tried one path. The first choice you get after you start it can be lethal, the second choice is a repeat of the first one (more or less), but you can't be 100% sure without trying (and also, if you like exploring options, you might be tempted to pick the one which is more obviously dangerous, just to see if there are differences), and there is another choice right after, which is rather bizarre (as in, you can't really tell without trying which one would be good, maybe both are good, who knows).

This without counting the possible third choice of not picking a choice (which I have yet to check for any of these). Anytime I want to try again, it's at least one minute if I go back to the menu and from there to the checkpoint to skip the death sequence and restart the unskippable video, that's way too much downtime.

P.S.

By the way, the game is old, but they completely re-built the logic, no? I mean, I doubt this is emulating an Atari Jaguar, I think they just didn't see the feature as worthwhile to add. I can't imagine another reason as to why there isn't at least a "skip to the next choice" option, if not a skip for the individual videos.
skipping lines in adventure games (and all sorts of everything everywhere, like cutscenes, travel animations, etc.) is an absolute must for me too, and if there's lots of dying here that leads to watching the same scenes in the very same playthrough, that's pretty bad, I agree. late shift doesn't have fail states, just different story branches, but even though the dev's games that came after all have scene-skipping (from what I've read, haven't played them yet as they're the same price as american hero), they never bothered to patch it into late shift, which is sad. gonna wait for a much bigger discount now (especially since it's the censored version, apparently, 90% off please), and will look into replacing video files with blank ones, like in the good old days of no-intro fixes.

Maybe I was just unlucky and picked the path which leads to the most dead-ends early on, but it's such an obvious feature, I don't know why they didn't have something ready (heck, they even have that fake "VHS disturbance" effect they use, which they could have employed to mask the transitions when skipping, if they wanted to).

Some of the videos (having checked the folder) have black bars over the nudity. Other videos which are marked with "PG13" do not, so I don't know if they cut some shots in those, or if it was certain lines of dialogue that were cut (I'd have to see if somewhere on the internet you can find the uncut version). There are just a few censured videos as far as I can tell, but I agree it's a bit disappointing.

The price angle is always a bit contentious, as there are a lot of factors that go into a price point and why someone might find it too high, but I will say I would have been fine with paying the full price for resurrecting a dead game like this, if they also had some of the basic features it is sadly missing.
