You’re in for a treat – we have some fun titles from HeartCoreDev! Synthetic Lover and The Symbiant are coming to GOG with amazing extras!

Synthetic Lover is a LGBTQ+ visual novel that takes place in 2066. Biologically engineered humanoids called “biots” make up a large percentage of the workforce; as a protagonist, you take up the role of one of the boots who, like the rest of his colleagues, lives to serve a single purpose: to fulfill his pre-programmed vocation. It’s a story about an individual who discovers the challenges of being a human, and during his journey navigates through the ups and downs of an imperfect life – learning to understand emotions, forming friendships, and possibly finding love along the way. Apart from the base game, you can enjoy the universe even further: through an Official Choice Guide, Artbook and an Official Soundtrack. All Synthetic Lover titles launch with a -25% discount; the offer ends on February 3, 3 PM UTC.

The Symbiant is, as well a LGBTQ+ visual novel, similarly set in a futuristic universe, in the year 5066. It’s a story of two men from entirely different worlds, embracing their newfound romance – Danya, the protagonist, after a troubled transport gig that left his and his friend’s beloved ship in a need of repair, receives a generous offer of transporting a mysterious alien calling himself Brahve. It is a tale of interstellar friendship and a quickly growing affection between two men. You can find even more content in a few extra titles: Game Choice & Achievement Guide, Artbook & CG Pack, and an Official Soundtrack. All The Symbiant titles launch with a -10% discount; the offer ends on February 3, 3 PM UTC.

If you still can’t decide, try out Synthetic Lover Demo and The Symbiant Demo!

mqstout: Better that way.
No reason it can't be both, especially since GOG makes it pretty easy to import them from Steam.

sanscript: It's worth noting that from latin, homo is actually "man" / "equal". Gay from French gai just means "happy" / "full of joy".
Latin "homo" does not mean "equal". It means man or human. "Homo" in homosexual very obviously comes from Greek "homos", meaning same, and has absolutely nothing to do with the Latin word. That's why you can use the term homosexual for both men and women. It means attraction to the same (sex), as opposed to attraction to a man.

The term "Lesbian" also comes from a Greek island Lesbos. Not everything stems from Latin. "Homo" in homo sapiens is Latin though, obviously.

I know dude, gay = jolly/merry good... though it's seen as an archaism nowadays. E.g. when I played me some Dorksoulz and wanted to engage in some jolly cooperation online, I gave up on saying "let's do some gay cooperation" as it sounded a wee bit suspicious to most ppl. Not everyone knows and I don't blame them either... so using it that way is setting oneself up for misunderstanding. I've learned my lesson in Dorksoulz! Though when I say that this/that is 2gay4me, I usually mean it in that oldschool way, like it's way too colorful for me.

Homo-, "same", and "homo" (man, human) have different etymology/origin indeed. False cognates.

Maybe some comments are "rude" but most of the people are concer that lately you are focusing only on such type of content and forgeting to patch allready existing games. In fact, I allways check how often your games are patched and if you are behind Steam, I buy game on this other platform.

I think some people would find it easier to deal with this and other games they dislike if there was a way to block games or tags. A few clicks and you will never see the game ever again.

Fully agree here.

But it isn't GOG that patches games. Developers patch their own games, or they don't. It's the same with what gets released here. If developers don't want to release their games here, there isn't much that GOG can do, beyond corporate begging.

GOG did not allow AO games before. Then they flipped, so it's natural to see a sudden influx of AO games.

octalot: Why? The characters in these ones clearly look like adults, and the plotline that clearly includes sexual slavery seems to be about escaping from it rather than ending up in it.

If you're expecting the reactions that most of Kagura's releases generate, you're missing the point of *why* there's so much hate for a lot of Kagura's games.
I played 2 Kagura games so far: One of their first releases which ended up being super boring for the 10% of it I played (the novelty of playing a game without all the naughty bits being censured away soon wore off and the game itself was quite boring) and Alternate Dimansion Diary which I did manage to finish.

While certainly not poster children for consent (which adult games have no obligation to be), I felt the sexuality in their games was juvenile rather than truly chocking as those games din't delve too deeply into the psychological state of their characters, making the whole experience very shallow and easy to disassociate with.

The two games I played that shocked me and made me really uncomfortable with their portrayal of non-consensual sex are "Song of Saya" and "Dead End Aegis" and neither of those games are from Kagura. Despite that, I would still call "Song of Saya", at least, a genuinely good game (it was 2 scenes and the rest of the game was awesome), though definitely shocking in this regard.

Magnitus: all the naughty bits being censured away

Just wanted to say that I'm not very happy to see these games here. Makes me a sad gog customer. I would elaborate further but I'm not sure I'm really allowed to

LucianX: Am I on GOOD old games or G.A.Y. old games? Is Boku no Pico releasing next?
avatar
MarkoH01: Well, you are on GOG.com - "Good old Games" does not exist anymore since ages.
It is interesting how you don't accept that GOG is offering the part of GOGs customer base that is LGBTQ+ games they would like to have. What's next? Don't sell any games that are aimed at women? Don't sell any games that are aimed at men? Don't sell any games that are aimed at familys? Just because you are not interested in them does not mean that there isn't anybody who is - and obviously enough to spend time and money to do a sale here. Also a sale for LGBTQ+ stuff does not mean that tomorrow you won't find any straight game here anymore just like a shooter sale does not mean that RPGs will get thrown away by GOG.

While I am not personally into LGBTQ+ as a matter of passion, it is good to see my fellow humans getting to indulge in what makes them happy.
