Depending what the things are, possibly. In this case, yes. What GOG does with the games with online-locked content is essentially go against the idea of DRM-free gaming. What Zoom did is apparently something incompatible with the way some people such as yourself view how businesspeople should "act" in terms of personality. That's the difference. Granted, the language on my part was a bit embellished, but it was to help illustrate such distinction. It's like my older relatives who think men "have" to wear ties or else they have committed some kind of personal failing. This "requirement" is in one's mind and not directly related to the business they are doing. I do seem to recall you casting suspicion on Zoom here in the past now that you mention it, and I do not wish to get into that sort of discussion as it is political in nature.

I know I'm not lying, however I do believe I am misremembering it being an E-mail. Let me check to see where I originally saw the comment (I have a feeling I was participating in a thread but I know I read a comment from a Zoom Employee where they beat around the bush when asked how they were able to acquire the license rights) If I can't find it though I will apologies as that would be the proper thing to do.

Okay I made some mistakes so I will apologize for the following:

-Claiming to have sent an E-mail: I did not it was a forum thread were people were asking about how they got the rights to the games, again though I was impressed that they did get them.
-I did not directly participate in the thread until later so I was not actively involved in the discussion. I was an active reader but did not participate until much later.

Before this page there are tons of people asking how they got the rights to sell the games and then you come in and give these replies from jokey to insulting but you don't flat out say that you can legally sell the games, hell at one point you mock people just because they want a straight answer

I've checked the thread over multiple times, instead of answering the question by saying yes Zoom has legally acquired the rights to the game, you use a non-answer and then belittle the person asking.

It still stands, the games are all there legally and if they weren't Zoom would have been shut down years ago. It's pretty clear to see, the comments even say as so. I would ask you settle down with the false claims, even more so when you yourself can't recall them.

Perhaps you should check your information first then, before you start accusing other people/stores of being dishonest? Unless you have evidence that Zoom doesn't have legal licenses for its games, then neither you nor anybody else has any business making such accusations. You have no idea whatsoever what contracts/agreements Zoom Platform has with its partners.

Most reasonable people believe in the concept of 'innocent until proven guilty'. I.e. Zoom Platform are not obligated to prove their innocence to you and, as Linko said, of course many of those things will be subject to NDAs and confidentiality agreements. What you are asking for is unreasonable - if you asked GOG, Steam or anyone to hand you a copy of the agreements with their partners, what sort of response do you think you would get? Perhaps you should try it?

In other words: stop being silly. If you have a concern about Zoom Platform selling certain games, I suggest you bring it up with those publishers.

I didn't post lies so please stop with the accusations, the replies given are vaguely worded so people could take them the wrong way, plus insulting others if they do no understand is not very professional but this is done multiple times in the thread.
I didn't post lies, I admitted to mis-remembering where the information came from and I apologized for that but the information is real and was posted. Frankly you guys are so quick to belittle and mock others when they ask simple questions and even then the answers given are rather run around. Also, as stated I was impressed that they got the rights to the games, many people were impressed and just wanted to know how and in returned they got attacked for it. Frankly this is really making Zoom Platform look bad if the low road must always be taken when people ask simple questions.

You never 'joined' the conversation, you quickly started posting doubt, which then turned into you simply not understanding comments, not understanding you are not obligated to the finer details of contracts and deals then you decided to top it off by posting about emails that not did exist while referencing comments you still don't seem to understand. ''Please stop with the accusations'' I would invite you to take up your own request, you can't have your cake and eat it. You are welcome to discuss your concerns, but as per mods advice (though it is confusing) I would invite you to come to Discord, or if you prefer, my twitch. I'm more than happy to talk to you about the general outlines of dealings in the industry and storefront, but you will never be told about explicit details on agreements and contracts unless you are the one involved in the dealing.

Regarding 'exclusives', the only sense that Zoom Platform is trying to achieve 'DRM-free exclusives' is by releasing games that other stores like GOG have rejected or aren't able to get to work. They are not paying developers to make games exclusive to their site in the way that Epic are. I haven't seen any sign that they are looking to do that.

If they are looking to release games that GOG aren't able to get working (e.g. Hardwar) , why shouldn't they do that? It sounds like a good strategy to me.

I clearly stated that I joined later which I apologized for but I was an invested reader in the thread and was very impressed with how Zoom Platform managed to get games that other stores didn't have DRM free, hell I was ready to start buying games and supporting them with my money, but with how dismissive you guys are and how you always have to insult the intelligence for not understanding, despite the fact that they clearly understood, well you just lost Zoom a sale.

I didn't accuse you of 'posting lies'. I said you are making unfounded accusations, which you are. You accuse me of being 'quick to belittle'; however, from my point of view, you have been quick to jump to conclusions and make baseless accusations, when the information you wanted wasn't immediately provided to you. Perhaps, as Linko says, we should all calm down a little bit and have a civil conversation?

I'm not a Zoom Platform insider (any more than anyone is who hangs around on their Discord channels), but my understanding regarding the Duke Nukem games is that Zoom had agreed perpetual rights to sell the games with the previous IP owner, before the IP was bought by Gearbox. Therefore, Gearbox are legally bound to honor that agreement. That's it. We're not going to get anything more detailed or concrete than that, because it is part of confidential agreements.

Again, if you have doubts about it, the only thing I can suggest you to do is to go and talk to Gearbox and see if they can corroborate.

Regarding all this 'hostility' between GOG/Zoom Platform, honestly to me it all seems a bit silly. Why does it have to be either/or, GOG or Zoom Platform? Why do we all have to be fanboys? I mean, the whole point of having a 'free market' is supposed to be consumer choice. Is it not possible to have two (or more) DRM-free stores and people can have some choice about whether they want to buy a game from one or the other?
