A Triple-A Ubisoft Digital Premiere

They may have been nearly lost since the late nineties, but they're very much alive in game design (and our fond memories) even to this day. Today's triple Digital Distribution Premiere from Ubisoft is not just a set of releases that start with the letter A, it's also a collection of games that introduced something new to their genre, offered a unique combination of playstyles and design choices, or tried something fresh and risky with great payoff.

All three releases are updated to work with Windows 10, and are available in a classic Ubisoft bundle at 20% off!

Anno 1602 A.D. is the one that spawned a series famed for its ambitious mix of real time strategy, business simulation and city building. It's a game that throws you, a pioneer of the unknown, into humanity's most far out frontier to colonise and conquer. Here, you'll find everything from exploration, trading, resource management, diplomacy and even combat - truly solidifying the experience of a true freedom to design your world, and the absolute control to do so your way. Anno 1602 A.D. includes Anno 1602: Creation of a New World and its expansion Anno 1602: New Islands, New Adventures.

Albion is a game that takes classic RPG and Dungeon Crawling, a healthy dose of humor, and risks its dangerous voyage far, far beyond earth into humanity's true final frontier. It's a deep-space adventure that draws bits and pieces from an unusual pairing of titles like The Elder Scrolls and Ultima - all to feature great looking 2D overworld exploration with detailed first-person 3D combat. Its most direct roots, however, stem from titles known as "Amberstar" and "Ambermoon" - two parts of an Amiga trilogy that never came to be concluded. Designed by the original team behind the Amiga classic, Albion is their true spiritual successor in everything but the name.

Archimedean Dynasty takes on one of humanity's biggest, most unfamiliar and inaccessible unknowns: the deep, dark sea. You'll pilot a state-of-the-art submarine to brave the depths and trenches of an underwater colony in turmoil. The bulk of the gameplay will be familiar to veterans of series like X-Wing or Freespace, but it's the absolutely unique setting and atmosphere that truly make this title worth remembering. Archimedean Dynasty soon spawned the AquaNox series, making today's release the final piece of a trilogy unique enough to truly earn a place on anybody's shelf.

Brave the distinct unknowns with the Anno 1602 A.D., Albion, and Archimedean Dynasty bundle, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, August 5, 1:59 PM GMT.

IronArcturus: Wow, I can't believe GOG actually got the prequel to Aquanox! Has anyone tried Archimedean Dynasty before? How does it compare to the other Aquanox games?
I would tell you if I had properly played the Aquanox games. :) I think I've only played the first Aquanox a bit, I was always looking forward to playing them as I liked Archimedean Dynasty quite a bit.

To me, AD was basically Wing Commander or Descent Freespace underwater. Maybe there were differences in the mission layout and such... I think it wasn't so heavy on FMV as Wing Commander games though, which I consider as a plus.

Which reminds me, it would be nice if GOG also got certain other underwater games, namely Sub Culture and its supposed sequel, Deep Fighter.

Vitek: Albion?

ALBION!

It is the year 2227, and the gigantic interstellar factory ship, Toronto, cruises toward a lifeless planet endowed with a wealth of minerals.
No doubt captained by His Majesty, Sir Rob Ford XXVIII.

Acriz: Oh boy, oh boy!
But what about the "NINA" add-on?
avatar
ne_zavarj: NINA ?
I assume "New Islands" and "New Adventures".

tburger: But GOG, no manual?

ALBION!!!!!!

timppu: Does anyone know if the GOG version Archimedean Dynasty has 3Dfx Glide support?
avatar
katatonicone: Yes, exactly. That's the patch we used.
Thanks! I knew you wouldn't let me down. :)
Albion? Finally!!!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
(And, as everyone knows, 3 'Thank you's = 1 Instabuy.)

And since Settlers, Battle Isle, and now Albion is here, the Blue Byte catalogue is nearly complete.
(For me, anyway.)
But I'm still missing the Extreme Assault.

Dear GOG, any news on that one?

timppu: EDIT: At least some of the GOG screenshots seem like they are 3Dfx accelerated (fuzzy textures).
Truth to be told this particular game looks very good also in software reneder. But 3dfx is a nice add-on - for this game I bought voodoo 3 pci and struggeled to install win98 on modern machine :-P

SCPM: I hope so as well, they are still sitting on a ton of classics, like most of the New World Computing library. Though, I wouldn't mind if they brought some newer stuff either. :-)
Indeed, some new titles from Ubisoft would be great as well since the last one fulfilling that criteria was Rayman Origins and there hasn't really been anything else from their recent titles.

It looks like AD is DOS-based. Do you know if it works with an Xbox 360 controller?
Wow, awesome releases! I'm really impressed!

ne_zavarj: link
Thx...I just hope GOG menages to add manual later. I have polish version of it in the basement.
Albion and Anrchimedean Dynasty being two of many classic Blue Byte titles.

Great to finally see Albion on GOG. Definitely and without hesitation instabuy.

Albion being one of my top requested to see on here and one favorite game of mine.

Thank you GOG and Ubisoft for not only Albion, but the other titles also.

Edit: It's nice and great to see the other two classics here on GOG as well.

The first Settlers is still weirdly missing though - GOG has mostly everything from the second one (and it's remake) onwards...
