A Triple-A Ubisoft Digital Premiere

They may have been nearly lost since the late nineties, but they're very much alive in game design (and our fond memories) even to this day. Today's triple Digital Distribution Premiere from Ubisoft is not just a set of releases that start with the letter A, it's also a collection of games that introduced something new to their genre, offered a unique combination of playstyles and design choices, or tried something fresh and risky with great payoff.

All three releases are updated to work with Windows 10, and are available in a classic Ubisoft bundle at 20% off!

Anno 1602 A.D. is the one that spawned a series famed for its ambitious mix of real time strategy, business simulation and city building. It's a game that throws you, a pioneer of the unknown, into humanity's most far out frontier to colonise and conquer. Here, you'll find everything from exploration, trading, resource management, diplomacy and even combat - truly solidifying the experience of a true freedom to design your world, and the absolute control to do so your way. Anno 1602 A.D. includes Anno 1602: Creation of a New World and its expansion Anno 1602: New Islands, New Adventures.

Albion is a game that takes classic RPG and Dungeon Crawling, a healthy dose of humor, and risks its dangerous voyage far, far beyond earth into humanity's true final frontier. It's a deep-space adventure that draws bits and pieces from an unusual pairing of titles like The Elder Scrolls and Ultima - all to feature great looking 2D overworld exploration with detailed first-person 3D combat. Its most direct roots, however, stem from titles known as "Amberstar" and "Ambermoon" - two parts of an Amiga trilogy that never came to be concluded. Designed by the original team behind the Amiga classic, Albion is their true spiritual successor in everything but the name.

Archimedean Dynasty takes on one of humanity's biggest, most unfamiliar and inaccessible unknowns: the deep, dark sea. You'll pilot a state-of-the-art submarine to brave the depths and trenches of an underwater colony in turmoil. The bulk of the gameplay will be familiar to veterans of series like X-Wing or Freespace, but it's the absolutely unique setting and atmosphere that truly make this title worth remembering. Archimedean Dynasty soon spawned the AquaNox series, making today's release the final piece of a trilogy unique enough to truly earn a place on anybody's shelf.

Brave the distinct unknowns with the Anno 1602 A.D., Albion, and Archimedean Dynasty bundle, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, August 5, 1:59 PM GMT.

RafaelLVX: [...] but I'll definitely look into Anno 1602. Anyone can tell what it plays like, similar games?
avatar
TheTrveFenris: Banished has some similar mechanics to Anno's games. Never tried 1603 but I've played 1503 mostly, then 1404 and 1701. I highly recommend 1503.
Like, a medieval village building sim with some amount of micro management? Is there combat/military?
When will we get Anno 1503?

ReynardFox: Don't let this be all you bring Ubi.

IAmSinistar: T'isn't. There be more goodies on the way. Credit to SCPM for the linkypoo.
Hearts of Iron 3 inbound to GOG?? YES!!

Kind of, you manage one or more colonies, sometimes you have to haul goods from one to another that cannot produce them. That's why exploration matters. Your village improves by the consumption of general goods and services like in Sierra's city builders (In 1503 I remember you could see the villagers going out for shopping lol), and all of these are made/obtained following production cycles and by achieving certain population quality and milestones. There is combat, though it's not the strongest asset in the game.
I just now noticed the 20% off bundle discount on the lot of these... I'm hard sold on Albion (fond memories) but not so sure about the others... hmmmm...

Dzsono: Archimedian Dynasty is a real gem! Excellent work, GOG :)

tinyE: Looks kind of like the Aquinox games.
It is more than just a similarity, but for what ever reason they both failed to be as good as AD.

It's basically freeze-dried Wing Commander; just add water ;)
Old ubisoft games hmmm.... XIII release would be nice :)

HoI III is coming? Holy hell, that could mean that the second wave of Paradox titles is inbound! I really hope we get Victoria II soon!

Anyway, I'm happy to see the Anno series make its debut on GOG. That said, I'm not sure whether it's worth playing 1602. I'll probably wait until we at least get 1503, since that was the one I played as a kid.

HOI 3 and Vicky 2 most probably since Paradox don't make DLCs anymore.
CK2 and EUIV will probably take quite a few years to arrive here, Paradox are still churning out DLCs for them. Well as long as they get here eventually.

FTFY

;o)
An Anno game on GOG? Sure, why not? I enjoyed Anno 2070, and I've been meaning to try the earlier ones.
Instabought Albion!

Even without reading the posts I knew as soon as Archimedean Dynasty appeared that one was going to get plenty of insta-buys too. Myself, I need to look into it more.

Anno 1602... I cannot put my finger on it but it reminds me somewhat of either The Patrician 3 or The Settlers...
I am so happy that Albion's finally here =D
So either Linux guys @GOG are on holiday or Ubisoft doesn't like Linux since there is no Linux package for Albion (I assume it's a DOS game?). Great release though, always wanted to try it.

I have the original disc for Archimedean Dynasty, but no box. No idea where I got it from because I never bought it and never played it :D
Albion is definitly wishlisted :)
