A Triple-A Ubisoft Digital Premiere

They may have been nearly lost since the late nineties, but they're very much alive in game design (and our fond memories) even to this day. Today's triple Digital Distribution Premiere from Ubisoft is not just a set of releases that start with the letter A, it's also a collection of games that introduced something new to their genre, offered a unique combination of playstyles and design choices, or tried something fresh and risky with great payoff.

All three releases are updated to work with Windows 10, and are available in a classic Ubisoft bundle at 20% off!

Anno 1602 A.D. is the one that spawned a series famed for its ambitious mix of real time strategy, business simulation and city building. It's a game that throws you, a pioneer of the unknown, into humanity's most far out frontier to colonise and conquer. Here, you'll find everything from exploration, trading, resource management, diplomacy and even combat - truly solidifying the experience of a true freedom to design your world, and the absolute control to do so your way. Anno 1602 A.D. includes Anno 1602: Creation of a New World and its expansion Anno 1602: New Islands, New Adventures.

Albion is a game that takes classic RPG and Dungeon Crawling, a healthy dose of humor, and risks its dangerous voyage far, far beyond earth into humanity's true final frontier. It's a deep-space adventure that draws bits and pieces from an unusual pairing of titles like The Elder Scrolls and Ultima - all to feature great looking 2D overworld exploration with detailed first-person 3D combat. Its most direct roots, however, stem from titles known as "Amberstar" and "Ambermoon" - two parts of an Amiga trilogy that never came to be concluded. Designed by the original team behind the Amiga classic, Albion is their true spiritual successor in everything but the name.

Archimedean Dynasty takes on one of humanity's biggest, most unfamiliar and inaccessible unknowns: the deep, dark sea. You'll pilot a state-of-the-art submarine to brave the depths and trenches of an underwater colony in turmoil. The bulk of the gameplay will be familiar to veterans of series like X-Wing or Freespace, but it's the absolutely unique setting and atmosphere that truly make this title worth remembering. Archimedean Dynasty soon spawned the AquaNox series, making today's release the final piece of a trilogy unique enough to truly earn a place on anybody's shelf.

Brave the distinct unknowns with the Anno 1602 A.D., Albion, and Archimedean Dynasty bundle, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, August 5, 1:59 PM GMT.

shaddim: the german manual is the original, classical manual with vector graphics ready for a perfect print (not a dubious rescan from third parties). Can't be more classic ;)
Wunderbar, thx.

JudasIscariot: Lol, we know where they are :) it's not legal limbo more like "Errrm so, we're launching these actual classics and all, highly requested etc., but the manuals look a little...not so classic...get approval now, clean up and release when ready" :)

Thanks, I saw it in a previous post of yours and passed it on the person handling these releases :)

Grargar: Uprising
I think I played a demo of that a very long time ago.
Completely forgot that even existed.
Thanks for the great releases, gonna grab them as soon as I'm a little less broke!
Holy shit! Anno 1602 shortly after Chaos Gate? My faith in GOG has been restored.
While we're talking Blue Byte, how about Extreme Assault?
Surprising there are no linux versions (yet). Both Albion and Archimedean Dynasty are DOS games, so there should be no issue.
Archimedean Dynasty! Wow, that brings back some memories. If I remember rightly, that game had the best graphics by a margin on release. Well, briefly... and that's not really much of a selling point almost 20 years later...

Still, it was pretty good.
Huh, so maybe I will buy an ubisoft game again after a looong break. Color me surprised.

No technical issue, maybe, but there could be legal and licenssing issues. Who knows.

awalterj: Now that we got 3 classics for the letter A, here are my picks for the letter B:

IAmSinistar: B.A.T.
This! And the sequel, Koshan Conspiracy.
Do I see it right that Anno 1602 lacks both expansion packs?

Anno 1602 – Neue Inseln, Neue Abenteuer: Erweiterung mit Karteneditor (Veröffentlichung: 12. November 1998)
Anno 1602 – Im Namen des Königs: Erweiterung (Veröffentlichung: 30. November 1998)

Hooray! 1602 A.D. is one of my favorite games ever. I had lost the disc and I thought the only way I would be able to play this game again would be via piracy. I'm glad that's not true.

Protoss: Do I see it right that Anno 1602 lacks both the Expansion Pack and the Max Pack? The latter one is obvious since it was from a different company, but why the former one?
It's not Anno 1602. It's Anno 1602 AD, which contains the 1st expansion.
Three older games... Looks good... I didn't recognize the Archimedean Dynasty, but seeing it's a prequel to Aquanox, maybe now i'll know what's going on when i play it (when i get the game), heh i'll be tempted to give the game another shot.

And then Albion.. I remember that game, looked promising, and then i keep dying at the first fight for some reason after the cavein shortly into the game... never got past that point...

Hmm i'll bet most of these use DosBox :P

Ah, good. The second expansion had only scenarios, I think.
Also I thought 1602 AD was just the English title, so they used both. Didn't know it was a different version as Anno 1602 AD.
