Age of Wonders: Planetfall is now available DRM-free. Previous games from Age of Wonders series are now available up to -80%, until August 7th, 4pm UTC.

Emerge from the cosmic dark age of a fallen galactic empire to build a new future for your people. Age of Wonders: Planetfall is the new strategy game from Triumph Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Age of Wonders series, bringing all the exciting tactical turn-based combat and in-depth empire building of its predecessors to space in an all-new, sci-fi setting.
Why is "Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic" not on sale? Did you forget about that one?
Huh, won't even start for me.
Downloaded fine, launches fine, but then gets stuck on the loading screen. Verifying files yields some 100mb of additional download.
Every time.

EDIT: Launching in debug mode makes no difference.
Huh.

EDIT2: Huuh, after some 5 or 6 local file verifications, the game launched up properly. Time to design the Dvar of my dreams. And then the Assembly-er. Assembler?

So on Steam its 89,99 WITH Achievements and on Gog its 89,99 WITHOUT Achievements.

You do the maths...

In the meanwhile i go on playing Flower which HAS Achievements. For 5,69.

If you read the dev diaries, it is obvious that this is a game with a lot of neat ideas, and they took criticism of their last game to heart. I care way more about that than achievements, so I'm excited to try this one out.
There seems to be a glitch with 4K monitors:

mqstout: So is this actually fully DRM-free and functioning?

Age of Wonders 3 had LAN play but it required Internet and authentication on Triumph's servers to work. So it wasn't LAN play, just a different set of Internet-based server lists.

Imperator: Rome doesn't have Galaxy cloud saves ("Because Rome has cloud saves built in") but such things are only via a Paradox account and other such bullshit.

So this is a 100% no-buy until these things are answered and properly.
The game is 100% playable without a internet connection in singleplayer. So there is no DRM. And requiring a Paradox account is normal for multiplayer, every game company does that.
The price of these games is becoming (or already is...) ridiculous.

Surely I will not.

Very not true. And even if it were true, doesn't make it any less bullshit.

How about cloud saves? Does this game prevent Galaxy from doing them?

I dont know, i dont use cloud saves. Ask GOG. Tho its likely it allows for cloud saves like almost all their games.
Shadow Magic was so much fun so this will go on my wishlist. It does look like the game has issues judging by ACG's review on YT.

I only ask because Paradox' previous release -- Imperator Rome -- actively prevents Galaxy cloud saves.

This is not a true statement. Every game company does NOT require an account to play multiplayer.

Even here on GoG, you can find plenty of games (and companies) that do not have that requirement. You don't even need to look hard. Terraria is a good example of a game that has multiplayer but does not require an account.
Another DLC-platform by Paradox.
