A legend remastered.

ADOM (Ancient Domains Of Mystery) is now available DRM-free, 10% off until October 11th, 3pm UTC.

Choose your class (like a rogue). Kill some beasts (like a rogue). Meet a new race (like a rogue). Get corrupted (like a rogue). Craft potions (like a rogue). Kill bosses (like a boss).
All in this deep, complex, and infinitely rewarding turn-based roguelike with strong RPG elements and a sprawling world to explore.
I've been asking for this sine they released a paid version. Hate Steam, but love ADOM, enough so that I almost got squashed in an earthquake because I was scared the power would go out and I'd lose my progress :)

HunchBluntley: Also starting to really dislike the "perpetually in development for decades" model. It's somewhat understandable for free and open-source games, but at some point, I still like a game to be done -- stable and definitive.
I get ya, but think of this like a MMO which only ever expands the mid- and early-game, never the end-game because that's just fine the way it is. Basically free DLC.

But I totally agree on the "Early Alpha for twenty years now"-games.

Wow, that's a real... dedication? :D
I wrote to these devs about bringing the game to GOG about 2 years ago. It's been a long time but I'm glad the day has finally come, Instabought :-)
Are the new tooltips included in this version or are they part of a future update?

fortune_p_dawg: awesome release gog, but you seriously need to tweak your front page.

at a glance i would have had no idea this was released here.

BreOl72: I agree - putting the new releases at the bottom of the page is probably not the best decision.

Right. I've only noticed the release because I wanted to see how many of the older news items are accessible in the rss feed that got posted several times during the last few days.
Nice to see this is finally here. It's an absolute classic of a game.
I'm a little broke at the moment, but I'll definitely pick it up at some point.
I suppose I should finally give the slightly older and free 3.0.6 version a try that's available from the ADOM site.

Out of curiosity, is there actually any drastic difference between that one and the paid-for version?

In the past a couple of folks were very insensitive about my notions regarding ADOM variants and argued "If the game is available without costs I can do with the sources whatever I like". Those folks are... well... socially retarded would be too nice as a description. Let's just assume that those people really made me wonder about what I'm doing here. They really should try to create something in the scope of ADOM only once in their lives and then they might understand. Anyways, those folks annoyed the hell out of me and I've decided that I'm not going to release the sources for ADOM.

Those news are really not accessible, you should really change that layout, GOG: it's baaaad!
Did I read it right that this version of ADOM used Unity as game engine?

No, that's Ultimate ADOM you're thinking of, the sequel that's planned for Kickstarter early next year.

This one still contains code from 1994.
Very nice to see the definitive DRM-free edition released here.
