Chacranajxy: That's honestly the most generic title I've ever heard. At least, it's up there with classics like "Wargame: European Escalation."

Creativity, people.
I can top that.
Strangely the screenshots on the GoG page are different sizes (click to enlarge, and then keep clicking either arrow. Annoying isn’t it?) and the trailer has all the sense of a Skrillex Farming Simulator video. I wonder if the game’s quality reflects the sheer effort required to find out if it’s actually any good.
It's actually a hybrid turn based/RTS mix. Sort of like the Total War games in a way. It has a turn based aspect at operational level and then real time for tactical resolution of combat. I haven't played it, so i can't comment on if it's good or not, but i like the idea.

Also the series seems to now be continued by Matrix Games, with what looks to be a more updated version called Operation Star sold by them. I'd like to try this but i'm not sure whether to go with the discounted GOG/Paradox version or what looks to be the more updated and more expensive Matrix version.
Now this looks pretty cool! Does it have a Skirmish mode?
Nice game. Now I'm waitig for it's successor "Operation Star".

The launch discount will last for five days, until Tuesday October 3, 1:59 PM GMT.
<using my best Doc voice after checking today's date> MARTY, WE HAVE TO GO BACK!

But joking aside, how is RTS part of this game? Are tank stats are somehow "realistic" or it's just a bunch of good looking names (KV-1 ftw!) slapped on generic "tank-from-every-rts" model?

Oh I laughed, then felt sorry for MJF, now I want to watch the movies again.
Some battle gameplay:

Looks a lot like Total War combat

I've seen it get a significant discount a couple of times ($5 I believe was the cost) and would expect it to get another discount during their next sale.

Have you played this game before? From the reviews I've read, it looks pretty complicated. It seems it's more turn-based than RTS based.
From what I read in a couple user reviews on metacritic, it appears to be so realistic that kills the fun. Personally I like realistic games so I'll have to check it out in detail later. It looks great though!
I really thought we were more war-strategy-grognard around here. Tits at #16 on the popular list. Achtung at #101. :(

Yeah, that's what I've read too. There are only a few reviews for the game on YouTube.

It is more of a (complex, grognardy) wargame than an RTS. I am presuming the GOG version is the same as the version I got from Amazon several years ago.

The new iteration of the series (the one trentonlf linked to) is not less complex, but is a significantly better game, to my taste.

AP:K'43 is not a bad game, but I would recommend Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star over it in a heartbeat. Hopefully GOG will be getting that, too.

This series is more similar to the Combat Mission games, than anything else. NOT a jump right in RTS.
