GOG.com: Release: About a Boy

This title tells the story of a boy in a future time when, following his own destiny, he inevitably enters a dark and future city, where in fact there is no human being in the sense of the word...
Before reading the blurb, I thought this was a game about the 2002 movie (respectively: Nick Hornby's novel).
The Video game "About a Boy" tells the story of a boy in a future time when, following his destiny, he inevitably enters a dark future city where there is no human being in the sense of the word.

Each of the game characters represents a group of people in the community. "Miro", the main character of the game, inherits a visual feature that can see humans based on their animal temperament.

The game genre is puzzle point-and-click adventure that is narrated interactively with the characters and the gameplay cores, which generally include pathfinding, puzzles, and dialogues.
Ok, English is my second language so please, someone else chime in - this is some bad translation "all your base are belong to us" stuff, right? I mean... "adventure that is narrated interactively with the characters and the gameplay cores"? "a visual feature that can see humans"?

The developers are Iranian, so it's also not their first language. My guess is that what they are really saying is that it is an adventure game that is narrated through interactive dialogues between the player and characters. The second quote indicates that Miro can either visually see other characters' aura, or it could mean that he is able to sense their animalistic - or basic primal human characteristics and react to them accordingly.

What's with the implied inevitability of entering a dark future city as one follows its destiny ?

I've been following my destiny since birth and so far zilch as far as dark future cities are concerned.

What am i doing wrong ?

I know what they meant so say, I just considered those particularly questionable in terms of translation.

I get that the devs may not speak perfect King's English, but could they really not get someone to help with these three short paragraphs? GOG surely has people who could do it, just for the sake of the entry in their store looking more professional. I mean, it really doesn't help to sell what looks to be a pretty story driven game when the catalogue entry is written like this.

You can always just watch Dark City.

But of course they don't, since only The King doth speakest the King's English. Long live The King :P. In earnest, it looks like they used Google Translate and it messed up. Nothing out of the ordinary, but indeed one would normally rely on more adept speakers to write these sort of things. Perhaps the "King's English" is a bit tabu in Iran?

Was thinking this was a licenced game of the Hugh Grant movie. Ha ha!
I'll err to caution of my original intended comment and instead say this game looks a bit disjointed.
Hmmm ... trailer contains too many combination puzzles for my taste and not a single line of dialog or character interaction. But the style looks nice. It's a 6€ candidate in the deluxe edition.

I guess it will have to do. And Jennifer Connelly is always a plus.

Thanks for the recommendation
