Let me rephrase: What does this have over OpenRA?

Speaking for the whole multiverse as that's what I'm playing:
- Campaigns you didn't play yet, including co-op campaigns
- 6 factions with different mechanics and different approaches to combat
- Faster pace, the whole game's really designed for shorter playtime per game

And that's about it, really. Playing the C'n'C inspired faction, allied with the Red Alert inspired faction against evil Necromancers backed up by Space Marines is a ton of fun - thematically, the game's great, theme being just having some silly fun while playing a fast paced RTS. The whole concept is based on older CnC games and so it plays nearly identically, with some Warcraft and Starcraft flair brought in.

As for the individual games being worth the cash as opposed to buying the whole 8-bit multiverse at once - considering how cheap it is I'd say yes, purely based on the fun I've had with campaigns of every single one of these games, but I feel skirmish really only starts to shine while you have all three games combined together.

Okay, I wanted an actual opinion because the GOG trailer is shit. All cinematic, no actual gameplay.

GrossorMD: how does the "Conquer the universe" metagame work?
Here: https://www.youtube.com/tv#/watch/video/control?v=kQqAd5gq6gE&resume

Essentially its like the conquest mode in Universe at War.
Without some kind of loyalty discount for previous owners of Armies and Hordes, I'll pass on this for now. Both of them were fun little games, just not necessarily worth full price.
I see this developer still doesn't have any idea what "8-bit" means. :p
Will we ever get their original c&c inspired game, Grey Goo?

Hm, its not theirs. It belongs to their publisher https://www.greybox.com/greygoo/en/

As a side note: Petroglyph now offers 55% discount for owners of both previous games on Steam.

Nothing for gog yet but they will try to talk with gog to give the same discount.

Oh I know how lazy pandering marketing works, I'm just saying it's lame.

I'm pretty sure Petroglyph, founded by veterans from Westwood, have a far better idea what '8-bit' means than you do, considering they've been involved in game development for nearly three decades now. However, you can actually take inspiration from something without replicating it completely.

8-bit refers to a specific system bit-width and the visual limitations of hardware there of... just making something "Blocky" does not make it so. I'm sorry, this may very well be a good game, and they may be veteran programmers, but this game isn't making any attempt at aesthetics that even remotely resemble 8-bit and without that they are misusing the term in a way that reeks of trendy pandering and that I just find irksome.
