Voxels of mass destruction

8-Bit Armies, a fast-paced RTS of blocky voxel mayhem, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount.

War is a ruthless, violent, messy affair. Unless it's done by small blocky men, riding blocky vehicles, and bleeding blocky blood. Then it's also great fun. Because intense voxel warfare requires resources, resourcefulness, and mean commanding skills. But whether you're leading your weird-looking dudes through the 25-mission campaign or against your best friends, figuring out how to take advantage of every situation is only half the fun. The other half is simply spreading chaos and watching the destructible environment and soldiers go boom.

Unleash your 8-Bit Armies upon strategically placed voxels, DRM-free on GOG.com. If you can't get the game's electronic tunes out of your head, be sure to also grab the addictive soundtrack. The 10% launch discount on both the game and its OST will last until April 29, 4:59 PM UTC.

IronArcturus: Does it have Skirmish Mode or LAN play? What engine does it use?
This should answer some of those questions.

IronArcturus: Does it have Skirmish Mode
Yes.

IronArcturus: or LAN play?
Not for the time being.

IronArcturus: What engine does it use?
The same engine that they used for Grey Goo, their own GlyphX Engine.

Maxvorstadt: Well, I guess it`s mostly the blocky look of the tanks in the screenshots that remind me of Tron. I can`t say for sure, but I had a strong "Trony" feeling by looking at the screenshots.

gamesfreak64: i understand you could see some resemblance with Tron, i have sen the game ones, but the effects were too much , (stomache turning and all that stuff so i never watched it again)

Other then that, i cant see or name any plus to recommend it.
Oh wait: the price: the list price: 15 bucks thats the one thing thats recommendable its a good price for a game like this, too bad the game has nothing i like.
Oh, by the way: Nice Atari Joystick, still remember playing with the Atari 2600 console. :-)

thank you :D me too... but my poor eyes were happy the pc made its way :D cause with better graphics and a keyboard my eyes were very greatfull, plus the arm wrecking stopped( to be replace by a mouse which gave me a sore elbow and pols, so i guess things went from bad to worse or maybe even to worst.
It looks cute and all, but I wish people would stop using the term 8-bit so nebulously. Nothing here fits the moniker at all.

There's more to looking 8-bit than making things a bit blocky.

The sad thing is, this is probably the closest anyone is going to come to a Nintendo Wars game, and it doesn't have any personality. Voxels are neat and all, and this does look mechanically well built, --

Oh, it technically isn't complete yet? Nevermind then, perhaps that'll be added in post.
All this voxel stuff craze. It feels like they make their graphics out of lego pieces.
While I love c&c-style strategy games, the artstyle isn't really doing it for me :/
Kind of makes me wish for Grey Goo to be released here.

At least the soundtrack is probably going to be awesome, considering it's done by Frank Klepacki.
Done my part :)

Petroglyph deserves every bit of support for going drm-free while being the publisher and this is looking great too.

For those interested - I think the game has crossplay since 9 games are now ongoing even with some sync issues. And yes I installed Galaxy just now cause of this game.

Best if you ask the developer in the support forum here: https://www.gog.com/forum/8bit_armies/multiplayer_and_coop_greyed_out_in_the_menu/post4
