They're crazy. And there's 88 of them!

88 Heroes, an endlessly replayable pandemonium of highly diverse action/platforming, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Seven Samurai? Ocean's Eleven? The Dirty Dozen? Pfff, they're not nearly enough! You need at least 88 madcap and downright ridiculous heroes to get the world out of this pickle. Alternate between all of them and use their unique abilities to mess up Dr. H8's secret lair, consisting of 88 crazy levels that must be completed within 88 seconds each. Ready? GO!

Chacranajxy: I'll wait for some impressions, but these are the guys that did Super House of Dead Ninjas, and that game was fantastic... so I'm optimistic. Nice to see it released here.
This game is fantastic too. Very nice to have so much different heroes where you first have to find out their abilities. A bit like Broforce. Although sometimes it feels unbalaced because some heroes seem to be overpowered by their abilities.
Nevermind. Looks interesting!

Marioface5: Two questions:

1. Can you choose which heroes you use?

2. Do you have health, or do you die in one hit?

I disliked Broforce after the first few levels because of the random characters and instant death. This game seems like it could be cool, but I don't want to risk buying something that will just be frustrating. Instant death could be fine in this game, it is in plenty of others, but that would depend on how easy it is to get hit.
1. No.

2. One hit wonder.

You ninja's my post deletion. Thanks for the answers though! I think I'll try the game anyway. It looks fun, and neither of the things I asked about are inherently bad. I just didn't like how Broforce handled them.

Keyboard controls work great too.

What I'm missing is the ablility to change key bindings and a leveleditor. Maybe this will be added later on.
I'll get it for 0.88 €. No more, no less.

eidolon232: FYI: Neo-Nazis use the number 88 as an abbreviation for the Nazi salute Heil Hitler...
I wonder if they would have priced the game (or at least given it a small launch discount) at $14.88 if it weren't for that association.

Are you trying to be clever or just proving you aren't? So what? We now stop counting to keep people from getting offended? Meh. Anyway, 8 in Chinese is very lucky so 88 is more so. I wonder what 888 is?

Now on to the serious stuff. This game looks really good fun but I'll wait until I read a few reviews (but only because I have a load of stuff to play already). Wishlisted it.
EDIT: Nevermind.

Hey, I thought about that as well...very odd choice for a game title...I hope the game isn't intended to spread Nazi ideology!

Honestly, I think you are missing background knowledge. Please consider, that Wikipedia has only three main entries regarding cultural significance of "88 (number)", one being "in white nationalism".

The title of the game, it's evil character (Dr. H8 who brings "the world to the brink of total annihilation"), the guy in the middle of the cover, with the typical little mustache and the two guns (reference to the 'final boss' of Wolfenstein, Hitler) are clearly a persiflage on, well ... Hitler.

I am not offended and I don't think the developers' intention is to spread neo-nazi propaganda. I think its just for "fun". But its by no means controversial regarding what it refers to.
