A classic, reimagined.

80 Days, an award-winning choose-your-own-adventure, is available now on Windows and Mac OS X, DRM-free on GOG.com

If you haven't heard of Inkle's 80 Days, then you've probably at least heard of the story that inspired your future adventure: Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. It's a familiar premise, and a timeless story - retold for a modern audience in a rebellious, steampunk spirit, and through a medium that couldn't be more relevant. In doing so, 80 Days creates a memorable narrative that takes all the greatest parts of a classic, and reinvents them in a way that's fresh, exciting, and wondrous once again. Set in an alternate 1872, you'll accompany Phileas Fogg in a wager to circumnavigate the globe - and together you'll shape your own interactive booklike adventure, and enjoy one of the most personal stories in gaming.

With the PC and Mac premiere 80 Days is also now bigger than ever, with 30 new cities in North and South America, major new characters, and brand new plotlines.

Go around the world in 80 Days, now DRM-free on GOG.com
It's ages since I read the book. Playing a Jules Verne themed visual novel sounds nice. I like what I see so far. Wishlisted.
The game looks definitely interesting! I'm still a bit unsure about the gameplay, got to read some reviews and watch some videos, but it will definitely be in my wishlist to be bought soon. The thematic looks cool, the art style actually caught my eye (and sometimes I can be a bit hard to please in that department) and, best of all, it's not regionally priced!

EDIT: well, guess I spoke too soon... I've become so used to seing the darn "Fair Price Package" store credit message, I just assumed these guys went full worldwide price... apparently, they believe in the quote "You never go full worldwide price . The RU,UA, UZ Gogers get the usual low price. Oh well, at least not being forced to pay more just because my country gets "coupled" with Germany is better than nothing, I guess...

Should be RU, not EU. Same in the other thread.

Asbeau: It's very popular and well known on Android
Thats on android. We are on a site selling PC,Mac and Linux games.
Btw. what is a "choose-your-own-adventure"? Do they mean that I'm free to buy this game or not to buy this game and buy another game?
Looks very intriguing but if it's indeed a mobile port, I won't be paying more than what the price is on mobile. So I guess I'll wait for a sale.

We're on a site which sells good old games, remakes of good old games, and "love letters" to good old games. This is the best 21st century IF game, according to pretty much everyone. The old IF games were on PC. 80 days is on PC. What's your problem?

Ignoring your blatant and rude sarcasm, choose-your-own-adventures (otherwise known as "interactive fiction" -- IF) were mostly books released back in the 80s that had the reader go through the book making their own choices and effectively reading *their* book, the book where *they* were the hero (the Portuguese edition of the US Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, Aventuras Fantásticas, actually had the subtitle "Um livro onde o leitor é o herói", lit. "A book in which the reader is the hero"). There were some IF games in the past, mostly text-based adventure games, but this one is the first to come out in a long, long time to embrace the mantle of the "choose-your-own-adventure" genre, and it has been lauded by pretty much everyone. It's an excellent title and if you and others think it should stay on mobile, it's your prerogative, but trust me when I say a lot of people would miss out on it, and lots of us want to play this on a computer, not just on our mobile devices.

Now, yes, you are entitled to not buy this game and go look for your typical elitist snob GOG Forum member game (i.e. CRPGs and strategy titles), but what's the point of coming into this thread just to belittle a good game and those who wish to play it? Do you have any actual input to give? Are you aware of some game breaking bug that could put potential buyers on the fence and think about it a bit better before actually buying it? Is it a game with regional pricing on a level that's worth mentioning and warning customers about? Or are you just trying to be funny and complain like so many people do whenever a game gets released on GOG that's either a) indie, b) an adventure game, c) niche, d) all of the aforementioned? Because I get the feeling it's the latter, and no one -- not even you -- gains anything from this kind of behaviour.

I actually think you are ruder than me. Not only by assuming things (like that I would think it should stay on mobile or that I would not want to buy the game - both of which I never said or even slightly hinted at in the single line I wrote) but also by assuming my funny comment was sarcasm.

So, you just wasted a lot of time with rant towards a person who was quite innocent.

So for the protocol. I don't like you much either.

On the other hand I got my question answered. That is at least something. "choose-your-own-adventure" is basically a multi-ended storyline which depend on player actions which I know more from RPGs and less from adventures. Sounds interesting, so maybe I'll try although I guess that a journey around the world in 80 days is not really the most suitable topic for "choose-your-own-adventure" since the journey around the world in 80 days is a very defined adventure and how can you make a completely different adventure out of this I wonder? Maybe I'll try it just out of curiosity to see how they solved this problem.

I think it's a pretty good setup, myself. Where will you go? What happens to you at each destination? How will you react to these incidents? Will you lose a few days to play it safe?

There was at least one CYOA book that was on this vein ("you are a pirate captain, and you made the bet to get to another port in 1 month with more loot than your rival. Chose where you will go in search of loot and fame, but don't waste too much time"), and it worked pretty well (although it was awfully hard to win, as with most "Fighting Fantasy" books, that were written with replayability in mind)

Telika: Will they also adapt their Sorcery series for pc ?
You'll find this interview with Inkle very interesting, the relevant part pertaining to your question is at the end.

"What's next for Inkle?

Next up - Sorcery! parts 1, 2 and 3 are coming to PC and Mac, and we'll be working on wrapping up the epic saga of monsters, traps and magic in suitably epic style for the final part. Meanwhile - something else..."

Well, that's sweet news, and absolute GOG material (these old "your own adventure" books do qualify as good old games, and these digital ports are very, very well done).

I've actually played Sorcery 1 and 2 on android, and enjoyed them immensely. So, you know what ? Wishlist. That's what.

Voted!
Loved the Sorcery! books. Played a whole lot of Fighting Fantasy books in the 80's.
