IAmSinistar: By the way, what do folks think about a new, separate list for games which aren't really regionally priced except for the Russian Discount? Might that keep the two kinds of pricing clearer?
I thought about it when I saw the latest update by mrkgnao.
avatar
IAmSinistar: They do both offend me. But I think the distinction could still be useful, because in the case of the Russian Discount, nobody is paying more than the baseline (US Dollars) price. In fact, everyone but the ex-Soviets are paying the same price. In true regional pricing you have no idea what your price will be until you see it.
The problem is that the russian discount is becoming bigger and bigger all the time now. It just shows how big a markup is on these game prices if they can make such a big discount for russian users.

IAmSinistar: For crying out loud, why don't they just make the shit free in Russia? NEO Scavenger for $3.99, Space Rangers HD: A War Apart for $4.59 - those price differences are absolutely ridiculous.

Got some hateful updating to do, it seems.
What about the $30 discount they get on Blackguards 2? ॓_॔

The way this is going, I'm more and more leaning towards a GOG Mix that focuses and exposes these insulting to the rest of the world price differences.

mrkgnao: From MaGog's logs for 12 January:

[...]
NOTE! CHANGED Blackguards 2 [Upcoming], reg_price_ru: $34.99 ***TO*** $7.99

[...]
Good to have you back, mrkgnao. Hope you got a good start in the new year, with your batteries fully recharged.

Though you brought us some upsetting news - not your fault of course, but what disgusting news to return to.

Thanks for the feedback folks, I'll set up a thread and GOGmix on the Russian Discount titles. If mrkgnao could be so kind as to use his nice tool to pull that list, I'll begin assembling their new home, as well as moving them out of this list.

Done by hand:

Dead State
Gone Home
Halfway
King Arthur's Gold
King's Bounty: Warriors of the North (+Complete Edition and Upgrade)
Mount & Blade
Mount & Blade: Warband
Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars
Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
NEO Scavenger
Shadow Warrior (2013)
Space Rangers HD: A War Apart

Note that these games aren't necessarily cheaper only for Russia, but might also have cheaper prices for other territories.

Thanks mate. Is there a pattern to the non-Russian discount that still enables the grouping to be themed as the Russian Discount, such as they other countries getting discounts being ex-Soviet states?

At least in the past the reasoning behind the huge discount in regional pricing for Russia was less that people there are not rich and cannot buy it otherwise but more that they are so inclined towards piracy and would not buy otherwise.

So the solution is simple. Customers from other countries, do they want to get cheaper prices too, must embrace piracy more. Nothing seems to beat piracy regionally price-wise. Only if every video games market becomes as difficult to sell in as the Russian one we can expect a more even level again. Elementary market mechanisms.

Just a joke. ;)

Glad to:
1) Games that are regionally priced only in RU (ex-Soviet Union):

2) All other regionally-priced games:
http://www.an-ovel.com/cgi-bin/magog.cgi?ver=380&scp=gdspur&dsp=ipgfsorlcmbah&ord=&flt=pra~aubrdechczrogbnoseplua~&opt=

Note that at the moment MaGog does not allow to search by relative price (cheaper vs. more expensive than US), so games like "Gone Home", which is cheaper in GB+RU+UA and same as US everywhere else, is in list #2, not #1.

Not really. There are some strange examples like Shadow Warrior (2013) which has a normal price of $40 and a cost of €30 in Europe, but thanks to the weakening €, it's sold for $37.8 in the Eurozone (actually less, but GOG hasn't done a proper Local Prices Update as of yet). Gone Home is the only game out of my list to have a cheaper price in Ukraine as well. If you want me to list the games that are cheaper only in Russia, these are the following:

Dead State
King Arthur's Gold
King's Bounty Warrior of the North (+Complete Edition and Upgrade)
NEO Scavenger
Space Rangers HD: A War Apart
Thanks for the data, the new list is live. I have added an asterisk to the titles that have discounts beyond the Russian one. I will annotate all the Russian Discount games on this list, so as to keep the two kinds of pricing schemes clear.

MaGog now has the ability to filter by "regionally priced but no region is more expensive that US".

Thus, here are the links for
1) Games that are regionally priced but no region is more expensive than US (i.e. same list as prepared manually by Grargar):
http://www.an-ovel.com/cgi-bin/magog.cgi?ver=382&scp=gdspur&dsp=ipgfsorlcmbah&ord=&flt=prx~1~&opt=

2) Games that are regionally priced and at least one region is more expensive than US (i.e. the complement):
http://www.an-ovel.com/cgi-bin/magog.cgi?ver=382&scp=gdspur&dsp=ipgfsorlcmbah&ord=&flt=prx~0~&opt=

You might find this useful for your new spin-off (expansion? mod? DLC?) thread and mix.
You have to add Blackguards 2 to the list of regionally priced games (price in Germany is $37.79 ($34.09 with the 10% discount).

Unfortunately this also means that the wishlist price for the upcoming games isn't correct in all cases.

Edit: Just saw that mrkgnao already posted the regional prices for Blackguards 2 yesterday. So please forget what I wrote...

That was hardly surprising. It's Deadalic, after all.

Great, thanks! I'll include this link in the header of the Russian Discount thread, so that folks have access to the most timely data.

Good work as always!
King's Bounty: Dark Side. Premium Edition and the Premium Edition Upgrade too.
