Matruchus: Daedalic is a german company which makes all of its games in german and has them translated in english and as such its very strange that they don't deliver german language for german games - just as explanation.

HijacK: Oh, I see. So it's more of an "alienation" type of issue. Well, if it helps ease the pain of some, Ubisoft has one of it's biggest studios in Bucharest and the bastards still can't even give us Romanian subbed games. :P

Also DSA/TDE is even more special as I have been playing the P&P Version for a long time when I was younger and still read the books, I just cringe seeing/hearing the names in english.

Well I've grown up with the stuff and I really like it, it has quite alot of interesting background material available too.
It's never been that popular outside of germany though.

I'll just leave it here, in spite of maybe not understanding the greater picture: Buy the games because they're fun, not because they have an X feature otherwise you may not even notice.
I want the german subs, because they are available if I buy the boxed copy in a shop. And since my mom and I play a lot of adventures together when I vist her I want the german language included since she can't understand English. And I prefer to buy my games at gog, so why should I not complain about the language pack missing. So yes it is not a feature which is not even noticed -.-

Have you tried to see if there are any mods for it though?

As for your last sentence. The context in which I said it would be a feature which wouldn't even be noticed is if it was already included. People tend to notice something only when it's missing.

Many people (some even outside of Germany) prefer "Das Schwarze Auge" over "Dungeons & Dragons".
Those are direct competitors, but since Dungeons & Dragons is natively in English, it's more common of course.

Having natively German games (everything from Deadalic) based on a German pen & paper system (Das Schwarze Auge) only in English available on GoG and still having to pay a lot more is a bit awkward.

Ubisoft as an international company does make its games in English of course, but it still sucks that they don't even use their Branch in Bucharest to give you proper Romanian versions, I aggree. But then again: Ubisoft is a big pro-DRM company too...

The DVD version of Torchlight is international and has German Audio btw. it's not very good (game AND translation) though and not the games native language anyway so whatever.

Nope and I won't bother I don't see a reason why I should do that. I'll just not buy it. And if there is an adventure my mum is really interested in, I'll just go buy a boxed version with the language pack available without me needing to tinker around with mods. In all other cases I'll just not buy it. Their loss for not including the original languages even after introducing regional pricing... And yes that was the argument for Deponia 3 not having the german language pack available from the beginning since it had no regional pricing at that time and the publisher wanted to get more money for the german version.

So there is a practical side to applying a different metric to pricing digital goods than physical goods. Downloadable games are just one example of those kinds of products.

Honestly, globalisation has led to pretty much what I expected it would - local producers are uncut by unscrupulous multinationals who go for the cheapest production (even if it means using slavery and child labour), and the consumer continues to be exploited at every turn. The promise of "better deals for everyone" is the same hollow lie that the market promises with each new "innovation". If you personally are seeing a benefit from globalism, then you can be sure there is at least one other person suffering in exchange. More likely several.

That's why I didn't. I had this discussion with him more than once and the next time he has always "forgotten" every argument against his stance and starts anew and it always ends in insults from his side. Maybe it's his strategy: Starting the same discussion on every occasion (yes, really) over and over again, ingoring other peoples arguments and insulting them in the process until next time nobody even cares to discuss with him anymore and it looks as if there are no counter arguments present. That's some serious trolling with a purpose, I think.
He jumped at me regarding regional pricing on every occasion and I stopped caring at some point, it's a waste of time with this one.

Agreed, that does seem to be the pattern. Plus I quickly give up on discussion with anyone where every response is a single line that I'm sure sounds all cool in their head, like an action hero quip, but has fuck-all to do with actual discussion.

I'm interested in dialogue, and thus only stay engaged with posters who are capable of an actual back-and-forth discussion. If someone wants to be a posturing douchebag, they can do it on their own time.
