With the first game being locked in no less than 31 countries, by far the most of any game on GOG according to the spreadsheet, unsurprising.

Mortal Kombat 1+2+3 is no longer region locked in Germany since a few days ago.

Looks like they FINALLY got that message. Only took 'em a few years.

Now if they can do the same for ROTT, that'd be great. Because that game got its restrictions lifted years ago.

The Mortal Kombat games were delisted from the German Index 2020. Nice reaction time, Gog!
Now let`s see how long it will take before the developers correct that typo in Kombat...

Harvester is not restricted in Germany anymore, either.
It appears the BzKJ / BPjM took it off the Index in April, meaning GOG reacted a bit faster in this case.

Why are all these games region locked?

We are supposed to get apparently uncensored versions of games from GOG?

Simply the law in these countries.
Some countries censor certain games. And for gog to be authorized to sell in these countries, we have to apply this law. Otherwise the site will be cut by these said countries (blocking).

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is region-locked in Germany by request of Bethesda.

"Fun" fact: yesterday, right after the release of W:ET here on GOG, I looked up the game on Steam (because here it was region locked) - and it was available for me.
But a few hours later (after I had read a comment, that the Steam version was region locked, too), a second checked revealed that - meanwhile - the Steam version had been region locked as well.

I don't know the reason, it makes no sense to me...but that's how it happened.

I just got an email that Being A DIK is on a flash sale. It's apparently blocked in Australia on GOG (I had to investigate why the link didn't work and found this thread) so why did they send this to me?

Also. it's not blocked on Steam.

I never knew until today that there was a GOG block list for Australia.

AFAIK only four things cause bans in Australia these days (since we've had an R rating for years now):

* Games reviewed prior to the availability of an R rating and not since resubmitted. eg. Hotline Miami 2, where the devs said Australians should pirate it at the time, so there's probably not much incentive to resubmit it.

* Games that got an R rating, the publisher didn't like having their games rated R, and decided to pull their game from sale in Australia by choice. eg. Blue Reflection.

* Games that provide incentives for using illegal substances. eg. Saints Row 4 before they modded it for Australia to change the name of a drug IIRC.

* Sexual interactions with a child. eg. South Park and the Stick of Truth, which contained sexual violence to children prior to a censorship patch.

I can't imagine why Bring a DIK would be banned here on GOG unless it involves sex with underage people... but again it's up on Steam in Australia so I suspect GOG are just being silly.
