A heads up, but Outlast 2 has just been refused classification in Australia. Whether that will result in the game becoming regionally-locked or edited to remove the offending scenes, it remains to be seen.

Good to know. I'll keep an eye on it. I wonder if Australia will be the only problematic country for Outlast....

Yeah. :/ Based on what I read about the controversy, Outlast 2 apparently features scenes containing sexual abuse or outright rape. Wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being too much for the BPjM.

Aye. But apparently Outlast 1 was never rated for PC either (the USK only lists ratings for Outlast for PS4 and Xbone) like Shadow Warrior 2013 / Shadow Warrior 2. We'll have to see whether they're actually trying to get a rating or not....

So GOG does it "right", Steam does it "wrong".
Steam does everything wrong. For exemple, Steam shouldn't be allowed to sell +18 games in germany without legit age verification.

Companies which are located in Germany because the German law ends at the German border. The BPjM can't do anything when it comes to none German stores (located in Germany) except indexing the website and there are no shops on the index.

So if I own a company registered in Germany which sells internationally, I do have to abide to the German laws, even if my buyers are not subject to it?

Yes, you have to abide the German law then. One of the main reasons why there aren't real big German digital resellers when it comes to Games. It is too complicated, too restrictive and too expensive.

If your company is located within the EU and you are (also) selling to German customers, you'll also have to abide by German law, because the German law is enforcable through EU law.

So your company should a) don't sell to Germans and be located somewhere outside of Germany or b) sell to Germans and be located somewhere outside of the EU.
