Hello, I would like to buy 2 games before the end of this sale, but I know that one of them will be updated only after the sale and I know that if they don't update it I will try to get a refund.
The Withdrawal Right say:
"we give you the right to withdraw from a purchase of GOG content without charge and for any reason within 30 days after you bought that GOG content, IF it has not been downloaded, streamed, activated or used in any way before then. If any of those things happen then your withdrawal right is lost."

What I don't understand is: can I get a partial refund? Can I download one game (that I know I don't want to refund) and avoid to download the game I want to be able to refund?

Since this will unlock the 3 free games, can I download them (at least the one that will be unlocked with the game I want to keep)?

It is better to make separate purchase? In that case since I will get some gog wallet fund... If I ask a refund will I get back my money both on my card and on my gog wallet?

Thank you

Once you have downloaded the installer or the game through galaxy, your refund is lost. It's due to the nature of the DRM-free platform

Refunds , as far i now ; are placed in your wallet now (before it was store credits)

If you are sure the game will be updated after the sale what's the problem ?, in other hand some indies games take forever to be updated , and i stopped to buy most indie there because of this...IF GOG is unable to get better contract well... no point to buy a game there ...sigh

Now if the concerned game isn't updated as expected , you can ask a partial refund IF & only IF you didn't download the game in question (or any another situation you mentioned). It could be tricky if this game unlocks Victor Vran.+ DEX..i can't answer about this.

You can also put some pressure on the devs (sometimes it works , sometimes not unfortunately)

I know that. What I don't understand is:

So since I want to buy 2 games (and I want to be able to ask for a refund only for 1 game) can I download the other one?

Yes, you can ask a partial refund without problem (i already did this); if you didn't download the game in question and met the others requirements you already mentioned.

As i said the refund will be placed in your GOG's wallet.

In this particular case you mean? Refunds should go back to your original payment method shouldn't they?

If this had been Steam I'd recommend separate purchases as they only refund back to original payment methods if you refund the whole purchase. If you refund a partial purchase you can only get wallet funds.

I can tell you how having a game refunded that was part of an order with several games worked for me.
I was informed by GOG staff that they have to remove not only the refunded game but the other ones from the same order too because that was the only way it could be done.
They then gave me a gift code to "reclaim" the other games from the order.

EDIT: And as for the refunded game, they asked me if I wanted a code for another game or refund and I picked another game

Er, no , they only refunded me in store credits when i asked a refund i was in the same case as LiefLayer ,but the wallet didn't existed at this time.

edit : i'm not really sure (it was quite some time ago) but the reason could be : because it was a partial refund, there were multiples items & i asked to refund only one game.

The refund section specifically talks about refunding to certain payment methods so a store credit refund is not your only option, though perhaps they'll do that by default unless you ask for a refund to your original payment method.

Of course if your original payment method was store credits/wallet to begin with that's the only option you'd get.

no, was credit card, but iirc , the support mentioned this :

there's a limitation to the refund system , they couldn't refund the game other than store credits since i kept others items.

whatever , if ihe OP ask a partial refund at best he will have its money back on its bank's account, at worst in the GOG's Wallet.

That''s all i can recall, don't ask me too much ;) (since it was one year +)

And the FAQ doesn't mention this specific case, otherwise i agree with you.

Thank you all for the information.
At this point, I think I will make two separate purchases, so that, if I have to do a refund, I will get back the money directly to my card.
In any case there are no price differences, then a single order is an unnecessary risk.

PS. Nevermind the game got an update.
