I stumbled across the prologue of Slender Threads and loved it. It's awoken the teenage boy in me that grew up on Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Broken Sword, etc. While I wait in eagerness for the full version of Slender Threads to be released, I just wondered if anyone could recommend a good P'nC game to keep me occupied?

I would recommend to start with games published/developed by Wadget Eye Games. My only complaint would be the ending of Blackwell Epiphany.
Syberia 1 & 2 are P&C-favorites of mine. Very beautiful art and clever puzzles that are still logical. Has some really memorable characters too.
Gabriel Knight, great story.

I agree with Random_Coffee, I love the Syberia games. Some of the classics of course are The Longest Journey and AmerZone: The Explorer's Legacy. I have recently gotten into p&c games that feature lots of puzzles and I really enjoy them. There is The Room series, The House of Da Vinci 1&2 and Dr. Livingstone, I presume.

Enjoy the journey.
I second the games that previous posters mentioned.

Wadjet Eye Games. Can't go wrong with them. I liked Technobabylon, Blackwell series, Primordia. I haven't tried the newer ones yet.
Syberia I and II: great atmosphere
Simon the Sorcerer
If you have the patience, the Cthulhu games for DOS arent half bad.
My first suggestion is definitely Telltale's Walking Dead series. It's not a hardcore puzzle adventure game but instead, it's a narrative-driven adventure game with choice and consequence. Definitely some of the best story-driven games out there (especially the first two) and it just feels awesome to witness the character growth of Clementine.

If you want something a bit more old school, I recommend the Quest for Glory games. They're much harder, gameplay-wise, but they have an extremely charming fantasy world to them which just feels fun to explore.
--- For a more modern version of this style of PnC adventure game, check out Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements. It's extremely similar to QFG but in an original universe focused around magic

While it's technically an isometric RPG, the Shadowrun Trilogy has a more linear, narrative-driven structure that feels like a combination of QFG-style gameplay and classic Fallout gameplay. Not exactly what you're looking for but they're fantastic and extremely underrated games so I tend to recommend them any chance I get.
You can try Broken Age or Kathy Rain, also Jenny Leclue is good. And then there's Fran Bow and Little Misfortune
Samorost 3! Maybe a bit short, but extraordinarily beautiful.
Billy Masters was Right over on itch is a good one, old school like day of the tentacle:

Yes, that one is great. Really short, but it's definetly inspired by Maniac Mansion(DOTT is the sequel to Maniac Mansion, MM introduces the characters Bernard and the Tentacles.)
