im looking for an rpg game with a good story and large open world. I don't care about graphics or the year it was released. I want a game i can play that wants me to go back and play it over after i finish. What do you guys recommend?
I happen to like Wizardry 8, which I am playing through (again) right now. It's one of those game where, before even finishing one playthrough, I start thinking about my next party.

Thanks, I've looked at Wizardry 8 a lot . I will add that to my purchases. I have a $150 budget to burn on new games. So far, i have Wizardry 8 and the Myst series which isnt rpg but still entertaining.

You want Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and The Witcher 3 - GOTY Edition.

These are probably the best RPGs with big open worlds and good replayability that money can buy and they are both available here.

Thanks, i added Vampire The Masquerade. Already own The Witcher series..
the original fallout series is really good if you can stomach the isometric gameplay

Divine Divinity might fit the bill. It has an open world with plenty of freedom, that freedom is what I remember about it the most. I think the story was ok, nothing to blow you mind but still on the "good" side of the spectrum. And it has a good sense of humor. I still remember the two skeletons arguing about how they can move having no muscles, and then falling apart because of that realisation. Still, my memory of it is definately tinged with nostalgia, as I absolutely loved that game. The world is probably not nearly as big as I remember it (though there is definately plenty of content, I have played it for an untold number of hours, always with something to do or explore) and a lot of things about it might be outdated today - I have not played it in many years.

Planescape Torment (and Numenera), the Baldur's gate and Icewind dale games are great RPGs but I'm not sure they meet your open world expectations.

I also feel obliged to recommend Driftmoon, despite it's lack of open world. It is a truly unique, remarkably charming game with great characters and sense of fun and humor and some very nice story touches, and great old-school but very convenient, well designed gameplay. It really is one of the best indie games I've played. It never got the attention I think it deserves, so I feel obliged to push it whenever I can. If the lack of open world is a deal breaker for you now, at least keep it in the back of your mind for later.

Ditto. Xerox. Copy. Facsimile. Re-rendering of the above.

Great game. Not so many games out there where you can feel the 'heart' put into it, but this is one of them.
What about The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind? :)
Dragon Age: Origins
Have you already tried Witcher? I just played the first game this year and the worldbuild is really good. I wanto to play 2 and 3 already.

Also, does console game recomendations work for you?
