I just installed ultimate to chrome to try it out after seeing these posts. I think my browser got a bit faster or I'm imagining things. Should I disable those other ad blockers? Just asking. =)

I would recommend so, also, I don't know about Chrome (haven't used it in a loooooong while), but on FF I also use a extension to clean leftovers files of uninstalled extensions, which also helps. ;)

Just downloaded. Thank you for the information Judas and Antimateria. Maybe this will stop those annoying ads on news websites. I don't care what they are selling, I am not buying.

My all-time favourite browser, the one that surpassed Firefox in my eyes, is QupZilla.

Hm. I've read through this whole thread. I find it strange that ABP is causing so many people so many problems on Firefox. I've been using it for years and it's never given me any trouble. Haven't tried uBlock but it appears a lot of people say it's better. Still... I'm satisfied with ABP.

Definitely. 1.0 is around the corner later this year. Only issues ive had so far is that annoying two pages that launch when browser opens & the slooooow appearance of speeddial thumbnails (chromium issue apparently)

This types of threads only makes me sad, because I miss the good old days of "Presto Opera"... :(

Long time user of Firefox, but when it turned into bloatware (social junk & other bits) I swapped to Palemoon & never regretted it. Also use Palemoon on phone.

uBlock Origin, as others have said, works well & definitely a must install, similarly GhostScript, WOT & all the goodies.

Debian apparently solved the issue it had with Firefox, and now Firefox ESR has hit Debian Testing, replacing Iceweasel, with various "Firefox is sending statistics" and other pops over the place, unlike Iceweasel which was always steamlined, silent and perfectly secure preconfigured.

It should hit Debian Stable branch the day Iceweasel is completely dropped.

RIP Iceweasel, you were much better. I would take it over Firefox anyday.

it shows major character and integrity on the part of the Debian project that they did the right so quickly and returned the Debian-maintained Firefox distribution to the original branding.

I'll stick to Firefox. The amount of high quality addons, many of them mandatory to me, is still not matched by Chrome/Chromium or any other browser.
Hmm, Adblock Ultimate is being developed by Secure Download Ltd., which appears to be a Bulgarian IT company. According to their (currently dead) website their services are or were covering this: The addon is apparently open source and free software (licensed under GPLv3) but I wouldn't trust companies which are working for the guys whose ads you're trying to block.

Anway, I highly recommend uBlock Origin, which is available for pretty much any widely used browser: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock
It's also open source and free software, changes to the code are well documented via GitHub.

Ya, I didn't doubt that. :) Actually I'm going to check it out myself to learn more about it. I'm promoting ways to enhance one's (online) privacy when in my free time so I have always to be up-to-date when it comes to these things. I don't recommend the very well known Ghostery addon the same reason I have mentioned above (and unsurprisingly it isn't free software).
