Pale Moon

It's Firefox with no frills, even works with most of the addons.

Random_Coffee: I understand why a lot of people use Firefox, but I just don't understand why it should lag on my "Witcher-ready" gaming rig. CCleaner didn't do any wonders, and I tried disabling my fancy high-res "Space Fantasy"-theme, still no luck. I'll try Pale Moon.
Try replacing adblock by uBlock Origin. It should make a difference. Also, if you have adobe flash installed, try setting it in click to play ("Ask to activate", I think, on firefox).

Personally, on Windows I use Palemoon x64, and it works quite well, considering I usually have 300+ tabs open. Plenty of firefox addons works with it.

edit: pale moon and waterfox and any other BSFox are all just 95% Firefox. maybe even more than that.

if Firefox doesn't run well, chances are something else won't either.

double edit: you could try brave.
correct... imho FF is the only decent and petty 'safe' browser to use...
if FF is laggy, chances are there are to many addons /plugins or whatver FF allows to be added.

I have some addons and i must admit that some might lag the browser, but if you buy games on a legit site, you can disable the adblocker, my addblocker is only disabled for a few sites: GoG is one of them
Av or antimalware that has realtime protection might cause lag, KAV or KISS (kaspersky labs)
might lag if you have all incoming and outgoing ports and so checked, i dont know how the stuff works but
maybe the safetyzone is set to high in your Av/ antimalware protection.
Browsers also have a protection level, at least IE has (and IE has past away in win 10)

Yeah, i'm also having some attrition with firefox, especially with youtube but unfortunately i'm too lazy to move to another browser.

dtgreene: You could, of course, try Chrome or Chromium. The add-ons you say you need are available for Chrome (though I prefer uBlock Origin to Adblock.)
chrome browser i assume? i have it just to check if my html pages i created for my free sites (i dont use these anymore , lack of time), look okay, i only check for FF, chrome and IE,, cause this way i have at least 75% (maybe more) gurantee that visitor can read the pages correctly.

FF despite its laggy at times, is still my default browser.

Used to use Cyberfox for quite long time.
Now I am fine with Iceweasel.

I would suggest you add Lynx to the list of browsers you use to check. This allows you to make sure the page behaves sensibly without JavaScript, and that it is accessible to people who might not be able to see.

Speaking of browsers, does anyone have any experience or opinion about Maelstrom browser, associated with BitTorrent? I've seen the thing on the internet, looks interesting to try at least. If I understand it right, it also works as a program to download torrents?

In my university we had an ability to exchange files via torrents for faster downloads and such (first time in my life when torrents were not used for pirating). Thus, the browser got my attention.

Random_Coffee: I noticed this as well when I tried Pale Moon a while back. Is Adblock Latitude working just as well as Adblock Plus? And do you know if RES works on Pale Moon?

I wouldn't use e.g. Chrome for visiting porn sites because I am sure Google tracks all that to you and then later sends assplug advertisements etc. to you all the time, thinking you are some kind of sex addict..

Adblock Latitude on Pale Moon is working with no problems for me. Can't help you with RES though. Check the Palemoon forums, chances are there will be an answer already. If there isn't, Moonchild will respond to questions.

timppu: I use Firefox almost exclusively, but today I got a new update for it, and I have been unable to connect to gog.com with it. Odd. So now I am using Opera instead, at least I am now able to access GOG with it, albeit sometimes it gets slow or stuck too, maybe GOG is just overloaded. But Firefox hasn't been working AT ALL for gog.com today.

I have Firefox 45.0.1 at home and no gog.com connection issues here. Perhaps it's a cache issue? Also, are you using the stable release of FF or are you using a beta version of FF?

Just one note concerning about uBlock.. uBlock (without Origin-suffix) hasn't been updated since Aug 2015 and hence it is considered pretty much a dead project.
uBlock Origin (or short: uBlock₀) is the one that is updated by the original programmer and recommended to install.

My bad. I actually have uBlock Origin myself and thought it was weird it wasn't mentioned on the page I linked to.
