I can recommend Planescape Torment too, I'm still playing the game but already love it, it has some of the best writing I have read in any role playing game, the premise is super interesting and make you wish to know a little more, great characters that will make you laugh and cry with their deep backstories, and also a great and living setting, Sigil is simply awesome.
The only CON is the combat, is so F aweful, like I created a charisma based character, you have plenty of options to solve all the mission independent of what character you created, but in some parts you have to fight and those part are really frustrating, very very frustrating. Still Torment is a game that you will love if you like RPGs with a good story.
Another one is Sacred, an ARPG, a more simple story but with a so fun combat (guess you can have it all), one of the first ARPGs I ever plaly and to this day is still one of my favoutires.
Baldur's Gate Enhanced Editon, it's Baldur's Gate, nothing more to say.
The Witcher 1 and 2, recently I started to play The Witcher series and has become one of my favourites. Witcher games have a mature, full of politics, romance and mystery stories, a story no too complex (or hard to follow) but is full of details, and is lovely to find details or things that changed from one episode to the other or from one game to the other. After all what I heard I want to play the third, but I can give my recommendation for the first and second game :)
Of Orcs and Men, another game with a so F good story, original with interesting characters, great soundtrack, it's a cheap indie/AA game, has some jankiness, but try it, you won't regret.
Mount & Blade: Warband, sandbox RPG, this is not for anyone, has a deep combat mechanics, you can be whatever you want, the world is living and you have to learn the rules, when you understand how to play it say goodbye to your social life for a good time.
