I just noticed that Pillars of Eternity is published by Paradox. Will it have tons of DLC, then? :( Or a in-game store or something like that?

Dunno, there's quite few (easily accessible) info on the game regarding that it should be released soon.
Has Paradox done such things before?

They´re neither new nor full RPG's, nor medieval or fantasy, but both Freedom Force games required you to pause the game to then order your units around. There was just too much going on for you to do it in real time. Your superheroes don't get items, but their powers evolve with XP and you get to choose which ones to have in your team per mission and such. I remember both being very tactical and having an entertaining story.

Arcanum has the system you're looking for.
I discovered that by accident actually. Always played it in completely real time and then hit some keyboard button (probably "space") and the action changed to turn-based. Luckily, you can change back to real time just the same.

It isn't new, but KOTOR has such a system.

It allows for varying levels of pause, as well. Or no pause at all (all realtime).

Not to mention it's a great game. :)

Freedom Force was lots of fun when that came out. Not sure how it holds up in 2015 as I last played it when it came out.

I really liked the story and artwork, and the missions were enjoyable.

I'll add "Divine Divinity" (and Beyond Divinity, maybe, but I didn't play it) to the list. It may look like a Diablo clone, but there's much more behind this game.

This might be a game for you or all the fans of BG.

Swordcoast Legends

It's actually pretty close to Baldurs Gate since it plays in the same region of Faerun, and it uses the D&D rules. I for one looking forward to this. And the preview on gamestar.de sounds very promising.

Unfortunately it will only be distributed via Steam, as far as it looks at this point. Maybe gog can do some of their magic and convince the devs to release the game here as well.

The game you are looking for is Serpent in the Staglands. Inspired by Darklands and Baldur's Gate with its own unique twist on RTwP, it is one of the more interesting games to come out using this system.

The release date is 28th May and you can still pre-purchase it on their site. $20 gets you the game, plus a digital copy of the journal with lore, maps and tips. I have been playing the beta lately and I cannot recommend it enough (and that's coming from a turn-based fan).

You can also read about the combat system, as well as the skills and spells available to your party to get a better image of how the game works under the hood.

It's a bit of a stretch to call it an RPG, but Transistor's combat is very much like that.

And I understand Bethesda's Fallout games (3 & New Vegas) offer a similar mode, too?

Serpents in the staglands will come out in may. If pixel games are good enough for you, it's your best bet at playing a good rtwp rpg. Darklands is the inspiration of serpents, so that too.

Don't hope too much of sword coast legends though. Looks like a bastard child of Dragon Age Origin and Neverwinter nights done for the multiplayer/dlcs cashgrab. Each classes will have its price...

That one looks pretty cool, I'll definitely look into it a bit more.

I like the Dragon Age and Neverwinter games, so I might check it out. But the DLC/Multiplayer thing is a huge disappointment.
