Telika: Five is perfect in my book. Good, bad, beh. Plus : Totally absolutely awesome, totally absolutely awful.

:) :\ :( :D and uh... D: ?

Darvond: But at that point, we're just back to starts via idiosyncratic representation.
Well, yes. I don't care for the representations much, but my point is that the starting point is nice enough. I'm happy with the 5 stars system.

I'm sorting my library through this, and it's exactly as precise AND blurry enough to make it easy. No "wait is that 67,4% or 67,5%", and no "wait is that truly good or also a bit bad". "Good" "meh" "bad", plus "burn that shit off my library" and "best thing ever" ? Ideal balance.

Trooper1270: A two point system would be sufficient (1=Bad, 2=Good), and would cut out the nuances of the differences between E.g. 9 & 10 or 4 & 5 of other systems. The reviews could the fill in the details of why a game is either good or bad. Simply, straight forward and to the point. Just what is needed in the rush of a society that has less time than ever to do any thing, even though a lot of things are now automated compared to how they were in the past... ;)
As others have pointed out, a two point system has a massive flaw:
There's no neutral, meh, or even a mixed, "the feelings are complicated" point.

Having a 3rd option such as neutral, meh! or mixed would only complicates things, because what does meh!, neutral or mixed really mean in a rating system without any specifics given ?. Good or bad should be enough in a simple rating system. Anything more just complicates things... ;)

There's a huge difference between "it wasn't really bad" and "it was absolutely perfect" and... I don't see this as immensely complicated.

True!, but adding a 3rd neutral, meh or midway option won't add a great deal of detail or clarity (if any) either way to a rating system, considering (as you say) there is a huge difference between a good game and a bad game. But why a game it deemed to be at either end of said scale can be clarified (with excruciating detail, character limit permitting) in a review by said rater...
