Well, I have a bunch of games kicking around from various sales I've capitalized on and, sadly, attempting to give them away to friends has ended up with them unclaimed. So! Time to give them to the community here.

So, the give-away is simple. For this you need to simply name the game you want that I'm giving away, and tell a story (of whatever length you deem worthy) about why you want it, a memory you had of it, or what makes it appeal to you. Best story wins the game (judged purely subjectively by me).

Oh, and I'll be relying on some people to inform me of scammers, as per my last give-away.

The games up for grabs (each line is a separate key) :
- Shadow Warrior Classic Complete
- Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition / Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project / Duke Nukem 1+2 / Balls of Steel
- Dragonsphere
- Blood: One Unit Whole Blood
- Realms of the Haunting
- PixelJunk Monsters HD
- Double Dragon Trilogy

I'll judge the stories / replies in about a week.

(Sorry, turns out Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 is not available. Sorry to any would be takers.)

I don't know why but I've just notice that the full name of Blood 1 is " Blood: One Unit Whole Blood " and I've played the demo many many hours at 1997 or 1998.

I haven't beaten it but I remember that I've unlocked a non-playable level.. by "pushing all the botoms like a dumb?" I can't find any sense.. ok I know it sounds strange but by skipping intros/cpu demos or pressing some keys I know that I could play the cpu-only demo lvl once... so it was diferent than the classics quake2 or quake3 timedemo. That "supernatural ^^ " phenomenom occured also with Wacky wheels. The panda was unavailable but the CPU plays a demo with him and "buggin /glitching" the game doing "I don't know what" I could play with the panda in that track. The glitch works like 2 or 3 times with wacky wheels. On Blood just once if I remember well. Ok I was a 9-10 years old child but that was what happened. I was surprised. I've spent many hours with CD ROMs full of demos.

Another rare anecdotic memorie: Here in Argentina it was quite popular a video game based on our famous card game called "Truco". I won't make you lose time explaining the rules but a basic "gameplay" is that nobody can play more than 3 cards. The first player to reach 30 points wins. I was like 29 - 29 against the CPU and I "won" because I throw my last card and it was the best for this game "ace of spades" (spansh cards) but the CPU throw a "Cero spades" and it had like 10 small spades drawed and won... (that card doesn't even exist) seems like I've found some kind of crazy easter egg...
I know that the game was "popular" but the few people that I've met who had played the game never found that easter egg. I must to find the programmers themself.

Sorry for make you bored.

Please, count me in for Blood. Thanks for your generosity +1 !

Not in, because of language barrier ;)

But thanks for the giveaway! +1
Nice selection of classics and some of them are no longer available on GOG, it's cool that you give us a chance to get them!
Hi, thank you for holding this giveaway, I'm in for Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 :)

Not much of a story there,
I remember that in my youth (seems like it was 20 years ago... was it really that long?)
I played the first in the series, and feared it might scare me, but eventually got messed up to much with the controls,
and after several sessions trying to figure out how to exactly move around and fight
(which I remembered to be a major aspect of the game so I didn't want to wander much before I got the hang of it),
I gave up and decided to give it a go later... which never came and long after my disk (or was it floppy?) was gone,
as well as the computer I had it on in the first place.
Years later I saw the trilogy on Gog and immediately put it on my wish list, where it stayed for the past 6 years or so,
as I couldn't get myself decide to actually try playing again once I do buy... maybe If I win it will be enough Incentive :)
I remember when I was 10-12(?), and I was going to a computer science youth program, that at the end of the classes we'd get 5-10 minutes of free time to play whatever games were installed on our computers. Most had Wolfenstein 3D(that's where I learned the LIM cheat), some had Dangerous Dave, only one had DOOM, and then my computer had Duke Nukem 2. I was so envious of the other kids, who were able to use cheat codes and actually progressed in their games, because I was struggling so much.

One day a new kid came to the class, and by chance, was seated at my computer. While he was trying Duke Nukem, he claimed that he had a computer program that had ALL THE CHEAT CODES, and that he would get me the ones for my game. I was so excited for the next class that I remember I burst into the classroom first, as if he would be waiting for me with the cheatcodes... and then he never showed up again. I have no idea what happened, I can only assume that he was moved to another class, but I was left with this memory, due to my frustration of never even finishing the first level of Duke Nukem 2.

We met again years later in highschool, and he was surprised when I recognized him, but again he was in a different class with different interests, and he had lost all interest in video games. He remembered going to the computer science program, but he had no memory of me or Duke Nukem 2. We never talked all that much after that, other than greeting each other when we met, and talking in a group, with multiple other people, about the latest South Park episode, while we passed the time in our PE class.

By the way I can only assume he was referring to DLH.

I'm in for Duke Nukem 1+2, because with all my nostalgia for the game, I somehow missed every opportunity to get it, while it was available. Thank you for this opportunity and thank you for the giveaway! +1

I'm in for the Alone in the Dark Trilogy, please.

I played this game back on my 386. You can understand how amazing this game was back then. The backdrops were gorgeous, the polygons were so-so, but they had a large range of movements. And the camera angles gave it such a movie-like feeling that really brought the entire world to life. And it was scary! I don't think I felt that kind of scare until I played Realms of the Haunting many years later.

I was super excited about this experience. I remember talking to my sister about this amazing game I have played. "This game is amazing! And so realistic! I found this saber, and just to test the game I used it to hid a closet, and the saber broke! And just then, a zombie walks into the bedroom and then I..." My sister quickly interrupts me with sarcasm "Ah, a zombie! Quite realistic, I see..." Of course, I was a bit embarrassed — I was not including the setting in the realistic world but it was what I had said.

Sadly I never went very far within the game, but I was just a kid at the time. Maybe now, as I am older (and smarter?), I will be able to finish it and try out the sequels.

When I played Resident Evil, many years later, I saw it as an update on the Alone in the Dark, technically more advanced but with much less spirit. I truly loved the "smell" of the early 20th century they captured so well in the first game.

Thank you for the opportunity to revisit these memories, Firebrand9.
The game I would like in the giveaway is Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition / Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project / Duke Nukem 1+2 / Balls of Steel

it is one of my favorite games and I was watching some youtube videos from lazy game reviews and I watched the gameplay of duke nukem several times. reminds me of growing up and all the hours played (not wasted!) playing this classic.

I recently came across this store to buy classic and some not classic games and I am looking forward to finaly relaxing and playing some games again and duke nukem would be the gem of my collection if I am chosen to receive the key for the game!

that's all :D
The Double Dragon Trilogy key expires in ***2 days***. Who wants it?
If nobody has claimed it, I do please.
In for Realms of the Haunting, please. I own it on Steam, but the controls are awful and the Steam integration breaks compatibility with the patch that fixes them. Serves me right for jumping on the first special offer I saw after deciding I wanted ti play it.

As for what made me want it? One of the villains is played by a man named David Learner, who was a character in the old children's game show Knightmare, a fantastic show and staple of my childhood. He played the host/Dungeon Master's annoying sidekick, an elf named Pickle. Nobody liked Pickle. Yet, according to an article by Richard Cobbett (a very funny writer, look him up), his character in RotH is actually sinister and intimidating. Or, as he put it-

This game makes Pickle scary.

As soon as I read that, I knew I had to own it.

(Also, all of Knightmare is on Youtube. Watch it, it's incredible. One kid puts on a helmet that obscures their vision, then stands in a greenscreen room. Their teammates watch them on a monitor which has a dungeon room projected around the dungeoneer, and have to guide them around the non-existent obstacles, help them solve puzzles, talk to NPCs and so on.)
I have games I have not yet found the time to play, so I will abstain. +1 for the giveaway, though. :)

edit: Seems I don't have the rep for it anyway. XD
