Now that you've got Witcher 3 installed and running (hopefully)... you will find the key bindings missing the most important part: the movement keys.

They may have been "WASD", which is bad enough for people with less than pudgy hands, long fingers or similar "nonstandard" extremities. For me, it's even "W" and "S" for forward, but cursor keys for sideways movement.
Heh. A nice one to play on people eagerly awaiting the newest installment of their favourite series.

Now, after we all had our laughs: For when is the patch scheduled that allows players to rebind all keys - including the movement keys?
This question / problem has been solved by 011284mmimage
Unfortunately, I doubt that there'll be a patch for this anytime in the immediate future. I'm sure there will be one at some point, especially if many people request it, but I don't this is on the top of CDPR's priorities atm.
Sorry about that.
Can you just use a key mapper? No? Then these guys have you covered for less than the price of a graphics card that will run W3 at a smooth 60fps ^_^
I submitted a ticket about this topic hopefully I will get an answer very soon

I resisted buying an xbox controller when Dragonage Inquistion was poorly ported to PC, but it looks like I'll have to bite the bullet for this one.
How can they not have fully rebindable keys, this is such a stupid move.
I havent moved with WASD in ages and do not plan on starting now.

Is this a public ticket one can join, or is it a direct "private" support ticket?
There are no public support tickets. You can vote on a user wishlist, if there is an entry though.
It was private . CDPR answered with a very unpleasent solution. I quote: "Hello,

To change the controls open the game, go to Options > Key Bindings, select the action you want to change, press enter and input the new key.
You will not be able to rebind some keys. If you really want to use different ones of these functions please try software like AutoHotkey:
www.autohotkey.com/
to remap keys at the system level."

Doesn't look like they're gonna do something about it.

Now that's bad. Such software will get you banned from some other games (justified or not); risking your MMO account because CDPR doesn't want to provide a proper solution...

Up until now I thought it was just neglience, not being a priority. But this starts to look intentional.

Seriously?! That was their answer? That is so bloody unprofessional...

Some people have mentioned that AutoHotkey won't work because even if you press for example B or H (locked keys) their default setting will still be used. Something about always looting with E, even if you change it.
I am flinging poo at CDPR over this! WASD is such a stupid concept. Every time i see a keyboard with those keys in a different colour it makes me laugh. Sure it may work for some, maybe the majority, but forcing it on everyone is ridiculous. And i thought these guys were hip to desktop users... this just stinks of console-first bs.

So disappointed! As someone with the use of only one hand, keyboard/mouse configs let me play. Unfortunately, this game does not allow you to change directional (W, S, A, D) bindings. No way I can play - $85 down the drain! I'm sure if you have 2 hands, it's fine.

I've since discovered that you can edit the input.settings file located at C:\Users\YourName\Documents\The Witcher 3\ and save it as Read Only. It's not easy but it's doable with patience.
There also seems to be a project here: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/39247-PC-W3CC-Witcher-3-Control-Configuration-Editor
also http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/16/?
Use at your own risk.
