So I plugged my Desktop PC and Monitor to a batter backup (The brand being APC)

I plugged both in the Battery Backup and Surge Protection to protect my PC from shut down due to blackouts.
Now blackouts do happen while I am just doing normal things like browsing the web and when it happens my PC is fine and did not turn off.
But when I play a game it does and it depends on the game. When I play games liek World of Warcraft and Crysis it shuts down when a blackout happens, but when I play games like Baldur's Gate 1 and Starcraft 1 nothing happens.
So does playing hardware demanding games somehow "overload" the systems that not even the batter backup and save it?
