Hello, I have one question regarding GOG connect. I was reading FAQ and I saw one question and answer:

" If I no longer have the game in my Steam library, do I still keep it on GOG.com?

If a game is removed from your Steam account for any reason, such as through manual deletion or a refund – we reserve the right to remove the games from your GOG.com library."

"we reserve the right to remove the games from your GOG.com library." - What does this mean? Game will also disappear from my GOG library automatically? Or GOG team will check my library sometimes and if they detect I no longer have that game, they will remove it? Or they might not touch it at all, but if necessary they can remove it?

It means if they find you don’t own the game on steam anymore, then they reserve the right to remove it from your account. To avoid people buying on steam, connecting it, then refunding from steam.

I understand that they have right to remove it, but my question is - if it happens automatically or manually and if it happens instantly or it's a delayed process?

I think it's done manually if GOG learns of any reason to suspect that a specific account may no longer have a certain redeeemed game on their Steam account.

This thread, presumably, is one such reason for them to look more closely.

The issue is that while GOG can reliably determine if you have a game in your account at any given time, they can't reliably determine if that game has disappeared, except by regularly polling your Steam account (something which I'm sure Valve would frown upon), and even so, that does not evidence of the game being missing (you may have just set your profile to private).

Only a staff member would be able to tell you what the actual process is. There may not even be a process, this may only be added for legal purposes.

Right and I think it will be like that, but we don't know for sure their personnel replies.

Anyway, my question is out of curiosity and nothing more. I have a lot games on Steam (approximately 400), but I'm not happy with Steam policies and as a company. Their refund policy is horrible and when I found about GOG's updated refund policy and read more things about GOG, I came to conclusion that GOG is more consumer friendly company that cares about their customers than Steam. I plan to immigrate here on GOG and use that GOG connect as well. The only downside of GOG is small amount of games compared to Steam, but I hope GOG becomes more popular soon and we will see more games here. I wish them good luck and wish them to stay like this - customer friendly and not a corporate greed company like Steam.

theres no wai gogies team is ever goin' to have teh work powah or even motivation to manual lee go thru accounts, unless someone like uuuh brags about it public lee

with teh new refund policy i think all their investigations of abuse will be spearheaded there

For those inclined it, it should be easy enough to scam such a system for freebies. The only thing required is the honor of a rodent and the brain of half a rodent.

Steam's refund policy is awful. Only 2 hours of playtime and then you can't refund the game. What if I'm having technical issues and trying to fix it before I give up to refund it and what if 2 hours ain't enough for that? It's damn awful and anti-consumer policy. Steam is typical greedy corporation.
