blotunga: For the first two games it was used as a marketing gimmick to popularize GOG. TW3 retail boxes already shipped with GOG keys, so only people who wanted it on other services like Steam/Origin etc bought on those services. Thus imho they should learn to live with their choice. I chose GOG because that way all my money went to the devs and it's a great platform. You chose steam, live with it.

You could have bought it directly from GOG. And nobody is forcing you to do anything. Besides I'm sure the steam version has the same features as to GOG one, minus some bonus artwork and an offline installer.

That would be a middle finger for all of us who bought it here. Why buy it here when we would get the GOG copy anyway if we buy it on steam. For old games it might make sense, but for the TW3 i don't see it happening in the next 2-3 years.

They are sister companies.

The problem is there are things that happen in the background we mere mortals never see.

VALVe has a near monopoly, and no matter how great of a game W3 is they could not afford to not release on Steam. Which means there could be some kind of contractual restriction stopping CDPR from using GoG connect with W3.

Not saying there is, but there could be.

Other reasons could be not wanting to devalue those that supported GoG in the first place.
