GameRager: Doesn't GOG also sell the original game here(minus expansions)?

GameRager: You put it in the main eduke32 folder...so open the eduke32 folder, and create a folder within it called autoload.

As for it not checking the box....you need to have that folder created first to be able to check that box I think. Create that folder where I said and then put the content(High res HRP pack or music packs/etc, but NOT the game grp files) in that folder(autoload) and then check the autoload check box in the eduke32 setup.

(Also make sure the game's grp files[main game and/or any expansions] are in the MAIN folder[eduke32's main folder...which is eduke32 by default] and set the program up using the menus and click to run it.)

GameRager: So no one sells the original anymore? That sucks(I at least have it luckily from when gog still sold it here).

What about World Tour? Does it contain the original game/expansion's grp files? If so then that is also a valid buy for playing such source ports if nothing in the original grp files is modified and one can load them into a source port/etc.

TheMonkofDestiny: Yeah, unless you want to gamble your money on sites like G2A for a Megaton key, the World Tour edition is the only digital version being sold through "reputable" digital retailers.

I think, but am not at all certain, that you can't fully run the World Tour edition's Duke 3D file via EDuke32 due to the new lighting setup in it. I have vague memory of some of the guys on the Duke4 forum trying at the time it was released but I kinda stopped paying attention to whether they managed to fully get it working or not since I also had previous versions of the game that worked just fine. Also, to the best of my knowledge, the World Tour release does not come with any of the expansion content beyond the specific new episode created for it.

GameRager: You still need(if you didn't make it yet) to make the autoload folder and place it in the eduke32 main folder, and place the high res pack and any other files from that link I gave before in it.

To make Nuclear Winter/Life's a Beach play(or Duke In DC) you must put the grp files for each of those expansions in the main eduke32 folder(not the autoload folder), and when running eduke32 you pick/highlight/click the correct game/file from the list presented to load that one when starting eduke32.

Then when Duke3d starts9after starting the game via eduke32) you click new game(I believe) in duke3d and then click the correct episode(usually when loading an expansion the third episode is replaced by the expansion so that would be the one you pick when starting a new game once eduke32 loads duke3d up) to play it.

Also, on nuclear and lifes a beach and duke it dc. are all of those the only ones part of the main story compared to manhattan and zero hour? do i need those two or no? are they any good?

in the setup only duke it out and life as a beach shows up, not nuclear winter. do i edit the name for the file for it to show or leave it alone?

im go ahead assume the properties autoload skip setup feature doesn't work in duke source port compared to gzdoom. Biut, im curious. would -iwad doom_complete.pk3 concept work on duke or no?

GameRager: 1st bit: I would recommend you put eduke main folder in like c:\games....as program files acts wonky with some programs and games.

2nd bit: As for manhattan project....that is a separate game and runs by itself and is not part of Duke3d itself & cannot be run through eduke. Manhattan project is a checkpoint based side scrolling 3d game btw, and is pretty decent. It also has a small DS sequel as well. I don't know about zero hour.

3rd bit: I am not sure. Check google/etc for "eduke32 nuclear winter grp" and related searches for more info, or make sure the nuclear winter file is in the eduke folder and not the autoload folder.

4th bit: The program is usually setup to run everything without command line stuff and just using the main setup when you launch it and also the menus once the game starts.

Spartanwarrior117: okay, for the first one. good to know. it runs actually way better now. i guess for some games C:games runs well. i guess for doom, it goes to x86 where it runs well i think?

i see gotcha, i wasn't too sure about that one i was confused by that one. sounds like i have all the episodes then cool.

i found the problem it seem the file was the old version. so i got a new version from a different site that had the file from 2013. so it shows up now.

i look around for command lines to see if ti works. if not i continue to use the setup file for now.

GameRager: 1st bit above: Most games should go in their own folder in c:(or whatever drive letter you use)\games. Windows later versions don't give full hardware access usually to games in program files and as such it is recommended to put them in another folder(many use a folder called games to hold all their game folders in their main drive).

2nd bit above: Yup.....although manhattan project is still fun imo.

3rd bit above: Good to hear.

4th bit above: Ok then.

BIG Addition: The Duke in DC and Life's a Beach expansions also have high res mods on that site I linked before. Just put both unzipped in the autoload folder(they will only be used if the game expansion is picked when starting eduke) as with the rest of the mods/additions.

i tried looking for auto commands, they don't work for some reason. im guessing the user that created this hasn't gotten that far yet in development. either that or it doesn't work for me at least.

also, just to let you know its now staying enable for autoload thing. so its working now.

GameRager: 1st bit: Yeah the duke one liners and jokes are there, and it is pretty fun for the price of a cup of overpriced coffee in most stores online.

Also as I said: It has a sequel and continuartion on the nintendo DS(original DS).

2nd bit: I think there is a way to do commands but I don't know personally...sorry about that.

Spartanwarrior117: thats cool the side scroller has those. i check it out sometime. sounds like its a pretty good game. i guess fi they do more for both first person and side scroller. they have to figure it out on the copyrights, lol. which will be never fortunately. maybe next gen hopefully?

gotcha, so basically Manhattan is an actual 3rd installment of the side scrollers series tirlogy, awhile duke nukem 3d is its own thing.

yeah, im glad it works now, but how come the Autoload folder doesn't show up in the custom game content directory? you know the where it says none and then you click samples? is there a reason for it not showing Autoload?

GameRager: 1st bit: I don't know.....maybe someday. A DNF sequel would be welcome for me anyways.

2nd bit: Manhattan is the 3rd side scroller but the first of it's own series(on the characters within it and the plot it has). The DS game is a bit side scroller and some other arcade bits and bobs, and is a sequel to manhattan project.

3rd bit: I don't know but it might be to keep people from trying to load maps and such from there by accident or put such in that folder? It's likely to keep people from messing up their installs of eduke.
