I have an Alienware 17 (2013 edition). I can already hear the groans :)

Anyway, its a quad core i7-4700MQ @ 2.40GHz, 24GB DDR3 RAM, and a GeForce GTX 770M (3GB GDDR5) and of course the crappy Intel HD 4600, but I digress.

Looking at the min and recommended requirements, I'm definitely okay with the Processor and Memory req's, and I think I should be okay video wise, so I was just hoping to get some opinions from others. Obviously I'm not going to be able to run the game with the graphic settings as high as possible, but is the GTX 770M close enough to the GTX 970 (listed as recommended) so that the game won't be choppy or look like crap?

I know I can buy the game and find out for myself, but I just thought I would throw this out there in the hopes of getting some legitimate opinions and even something totally unrelated and funny (fingers crossed)!

Thanks,
Sky

Hmm... As far as I'm aware, the 770M is a mobile chip - and performs worse than a GTX 660. The 660 gave reasonable performance (at 1280x1024) when I played SW1; so it might be okay, but equally it might be pretty terrible. I've seen a video where the gtx 660 runs between 45-55fps in SW2, so you're going to have to turn down settings.
...it wil work
assume low or medium settings
720 p gaming

it wont be pretty but it wil chug along at more then 30fps

Thanks for the reply. My computer can surprisingly run GTAV on low to mid settings and get about 33 fps, so I’m hopeful SW2 will do the same. I don’t game much on PC (mostly consoles) but with each passing year it’s clearly becoming obvious just how bad the GTX mobile chips are!

Your GPU ranks between the GTX750 and RX460.

According to the above... well, extrapolate yourself. I'd call it too choppy and too crap, but I'm not you. What's your native resolution?

Anyway, the game is currently very cheap - why wouldn't you buy it? Are you never going to upgrade your computer in the future?

Please elaborate, with sources, numbers, benchmarks.

Thanks for that info. I mostly play on console, but my computer is like almost 10 years old, so I am currently researching parts to build a new one once I get enough

It's a laptop, how are you going to get that video card in there?

science and industrious hacking

or one of those external adapters

So you don't know anything. Show me an external adaptor that can be used on the OP's laptop and is actually an improvement?

I did play SW2 on my old HTPC from 2014 (A10 7850k watercooled and oc'd to 4.4Ghz), 8GB of fast ram and ssd. But naturally I used the dedicated gpu because the igpu of the apu wouldn't cut it for demanding games. It was desktop gtx670 2GB model for those cases.

SW2 ran fine on 1080p 60fps+ most of the time with some tweaks to the graphics, mainly antialiasing and shadows. Dips happened during some super-hectic battles mainly in online co-op, or when cutting big enemies into too many pieces (I guess cpu-bound physics in my case).

Gtx770M will hold you back though... maybe 1080p medium (with some tweaks), 30fps target on average. Not ideal for a FPS, but it should run.
Edit: The minimum specs on the storepage list gtx560ti, which is in the ballpark of your 770m.
